(Orlando, FL) The curtain may have closed on the 35th Annual Orlando International Fringe Theatre Festival, but Central Florida is still glowing from the unforgettable performances, fearless creativity, and electric atmosphere that make Fringe such a special experience. While it would be impossible to capture every incredible production in a single article, our post-festival coverage continues with a spotlight series celebrating some of the festival’s unique and memorable shows. This time, we’re heading to Camp Sleighmoore to see A Final Girl’s Guide to Surviving a Serial Killer!
We had an awesome time at this super fun, slasher-themed show. A huge thank you to Orlando Fringe and LANCE Orlando for having us out!
A Final Girl’s Guide to Surviving a Serial Killer
Set deep in the ominous woods of Camp Sleighmoore, A Final Girl’s Guide to Surviving a Serial Killer follows one thoroughly exhausted Final Girl who has watched her fellow camp counselors get picked off one by one. Now the last survivor standing, she knows every horror movie rule in the book, and she’s determined to share her hard-earned survival wisdom with anyone willing to listen.
Horror fans will instantly recognize the “Final Girl” trope: the lone survivor who makes it to the end credits while everyone else falls victim to increasingly terrible decisions. The concept alone is enough to hook slasher lovers, but what truly elevates this show is its perfect blend of campy horror humor and LANCE Orlando’s signature stage combat work.

Killer Stage Combat
LANCE Orlando, a nonprofit stage combat troupe known throughout Central Florida for its dynamic performances and immersive action choreography, absolutely delivered with this production.
The show features an impressive variety of weapon-based combat alongside intense hand-to-hand fight sequences that kept the audience fully locked in. Every movement felt sharp, fast-paced, and incredibly well-rehearsed, showcasing the level of skill and training behind each scene.
What makes the action especially effective is the slasher-film framing surrounding it. Rather than feeling like standalone fight demonstrations, each combat sequence carries real tension and narrative purpose. Every confrontation raises the stakes, pushes the story forward, and keeps the momentum high from beginning to end.
Freaky Thoughts: A Final Girl’s Guide to Surviving a Serial Killer
For horror fans, this show was pure slasher-movie fun. The mix of spooky aesthetics, self-aware humor, and high-energy stage combat created an experience that felt tailor-made for anyone who loves haunted houses, horror films, and classic campy thrills.
While Orlando Fringe (and A Final Girl’s Guide to Surviving a Serial Killer) may have wrapped for the season, horror lovers should absolutely keep an eye on LANCE Orlando’s Instagram for updates on future productions and upcoming performances. If this show proved anything, it’s that they know exactly how to bring horror to life on stage.
