(Orlando, FL) The curtain has closed on the 35th Annual Orlando International Fringe Theatre Festival, but Central Florida is still buzzing from all the unforgettable performances, bold creativity, and electric energy this event brings! While there was far too much talent and originality to capture in a single article, we’re continuing our post-festival coverage with a series highlighting some of the year’s unique and memorable productions. In this installment, we’re shining the spotlight on My Life as an Inspirational Porn Star!

What Is “Inspirational Porn,” Anyway?
Let’s be real — a title like My Life as an “Inspirational Porn” Star is going to stop you in your tracks. And that’s exactly the point.
If you’re not already familiar with the term, “inspirational porn” refers to the way society often uses disabled/neurodivergent individuals as objects of inspiration for able-bodied people – reducing complex human beings to their challenges and positioning their everyday existence as somehow extraordinary. It’s a concept that disability advocates have been challenging for years, and this show takes it head-on with razor-sharp wit and radical vulnerability.
My Life as an Inspirational Porn Star
Written, performed, and produced entirely by Gabrielle Leonore, this one-woman show is so much more than its provocative name suggests. Blending burlesque, sharp character work, autobiographical honesty, and multimedia projection, the piece dives headfirst into some of the most personal aspects of identity: sexuality, neurodivergence, stigma, and self-definition. Through Gabrielle’s own lived experiences as a self-described “hotistic” (hot + autistic) bisexual woman, audiences are invited into a world that’s simultaneously hilarious, tender, and genuinely eye-opening.
This show isn’t a lecture. Public discourse around autism is currently shaped by fear and confusion, and My Life as an “Inspirational Porn” Star pushes back against all of that – offering clarity, humanity, and nuance in its place. It’s a funny, sexy, deeply personal storytelling experience, and I definitely recommend checking it out!
