(Sanford, FL) This October, the stage at Theater West End in historic downtown Sanford will transform into a world of excess, power, and deadly desire as American Psycho: The Musical invades Central Florida. Based on Bret Easton Ellis’ infamous novel, this electrifying production promises to be just as sharp and unapologetic as its source material.
A Killer Creative Team
The musical is the brainchild of Tony Award–winning composer Duncan Sheik (Spring Awakening) and playwright Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Riverdale, The Muckle Man, The Picture of Dorian Gray). Together, they reimagine Ellis’ iconic antihero, Patrick Bateman, for the stage – pairing razor-edged satire with an addictive score.
Directing the production is Derek Critzer, with Justin Adams as music director and Chris Payen handling choreography. Their combined talents set the stage for a production that balances sleek sophistication with chilling intensity.
The Story of Patrick Bateman
For those unfamiliar, Patrick Bateman is a young and successful Wall Street banker with a taste for the finer things in life – designer suits, exclusive nightclubs, and the perfect reservation at the hottest restaurant in town. But beneath the surface lies a much darker obsession. As his polished façade begins to unravel, audiences are pulled into a world where glamour and violence intersect in shocking, unforgettable ways.
A Talented Cast Brings the Darkness to Life
New York City–based performer Chris Monell stars as Patrick Bateman, leading a cast of rising talents: Harvey Evans, Woodrow Helms, Will Sippel, Johnny Flannagan, Diego Cintròn Rivera, Noah Howard, Laurel Hatfield, Savannah Pedersen, Jordan Grant, Ashley Lewis, and Hunter Rogers.
When & Where to See It
American Psycho: The Musical opens Friday, October 17 and runs through Sunday, November 2 at Theater West End. With tickets starting at just $25, this is a rare chance to see a bold, provocative, Broadway-style production in an intimate, local setting.
