(Anaheim, CA) A few days ago, we survived 13th Basement, a horror-themed, blood-soaked escape room crafted by the brilliant minds at Exit Game in Anaheim, California. An immersive blend of hands-on interactions, cleverly designed puzzles, creepy characters, and heart-pounding suspense; 13th Basement delivers an unforgettable adventure for both experienced and newbie escape room players.

We adored the spooky vibes and mind-bending mysteries at 13th Basement, and we can’t wait to tell you all about our experience. Thank you, Exit Game, for inviting us out!
The 13th Basement Experience

13th Basement is a 60-minute, multi-room escape game that combines dark humor with well-timed jump scares, cinematic set pieces, grisly surprises, and just the right dose of gore. Ideally designed for groups of 3-8 players, the room challenges participants with complex puzzles and skillfully themed objectives that keep the adrenaline pumping from start to finish.
In 13th Basement, players find themselves trapped by a twisted serial killer eager to test his homemade escape room on unsuspecting victims. Can you outsmart his sinister games and make it out alive? There’s only one way to find out!

The creepiness kicks in immediately at 13th Basement, with players blindfolded and split into separate rooms for a disorienting split-start experience. Solid teamwork and clear communication are essential to reunite and once you do, even more chilling surprises await around every corner.
The rest of the game includes a variety of physical tasks and intriguing brain teasers seamlessly organized into an eerily engaging journey. Without spoiling any specifics, I can say that these tasks were fun to decipher and complete. My group found them challenging enough to keep our brains and bodies engaged in the content but not so difficult that we felt overwhelmed or defeated.
The room’s decor and set pieces are equally impressive. Every space in 13th Basement is packed with creepy details that beg to be explored. I loved uncovering the hidden surprises scattered throughout each room, adding an extra layer of excitement to the experience.
It’s worth noting that while 13th Basement delivers plenty of unsettling moments and spooky atmosphere, it isn’t meant to be an all-out terrifying attraction. Instead, it strikes a perfect balance, offering a horror-inspired adventure suitable for players ages 13 and up.
