“After the medical system fails to find the cause of a woman’s pain, she is driven to extremes to finally be heard, leaving her questioning the world around her.” – the official Call Me Crazy press release.
Emmy-winning writer and director Olivia Ormond is bringing a deeply personal story to the stage this summer. Her solo play, Call Me Crazy, will premiere at the Hollywood Fringe Festival with performances on June 5, 19, and 21 at The Stage Crafts Hobgoblin Theater. After its Los Angeles run, the show will head to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for a nine-date engagement.
A Story Too Common and Too Often Ignored
Call Me Crazy is based on Ormond’s real-life experience. For years, she lived with constant, unexplained pain while doctors told her it wasn’t real. The show follows her journey through frustration, anger, and resilience as she fights to be believed in a system that repeatedly dismissed her.
Said writer and star Olivia Ormond, “writing this show was not something I intended to do, but whenever I started writing something else it all seemed unimportant compared to this.” And she quickly discovered she wasn’t alone. She says, “I don’t go a day without meeting another woman who also shares this same experience.”
Call Me Crazy is a sharp, urgent look at the very real issues of gender health gaps and medical gaslighting, tackling the question: how many times can people call you crazy before you lose your mind?

The Team Behind the Show
In addition to Ormond’s writing and performance skills, Call Me Crazy features a talented artistic team. The play is directed by JuJu Jaworski, a New York-based director known for her work with The Tank and Fordham University. It is produced by Alexa Spiegel, a champion of up-and-coming artists and veteran of the Edinburgh Fringe scene.
Together these powerful creators will highlight an important issue that plagues women of all ages and backgrounds: the flippant dismissal or outright denial of their real and chronic pain.

More Than a Play — It’s a Movement
Call Me Crazy isn’t just a performance; it’s a rallying cry for those who’ve been silenced. Ormond hopes that audiences will walk away feeling seen, heard, and empowered.
As Olivia puts it, “a lot can happen in 6 years, and living in pain for that long can make you crazy.” This play is her fight to get her life back, and an invitation for others to join the conversation.
