(Universal City, CA) Summer in LA just got a whole lot cooler — and we’re not just talking about beating the heat with water rides and ice-cold treats. Starting Friday, June 13, 2025, Universal Studios Hollywood is turning up the blockbuster fun with its brand-new seasonal event: Universal Mega Movie Summer! Running daily through Sunday, August 10, this star-studded celebration brings some of your favorite films to life in bigger, bolder, and splashier ways than ever before.
So what can you expect? Dinos, dragons, DeLoreans, and more! Here’s your inside scoop on why you’ll want to grab your crew and head straight for the park gates.
🦖 Jurassic World—The Ride Gets a Ferocious Upgrade
Hold onto your butts! Universal’s dino-thrill ride is getting a prehistoric facelift with the addition of Mosasaurus Splash. Alongside the infamous 84-foot water drop, you’ll now hear the terrifying roar of a Mosasaurus and dodge four new Spitter dinosaurs. Geysers? Check. Soaked guests? Absolutely.
Plus, meet a brand-new, adorable dino pal from the upcoming film Jurassic World Rebirth, hang out with Blue and Juliet the Triceratops, and snap pics with a massive Spinosaurus photo op. There’s even a scavenger hunt featuring those mischievous Compys to keep you on your toes.
Craving dino-themed bites? Jurassic Cafe and Isla Nubar are debuting new menu items and drinks like The Jurassic Water Rebirth and the Spicy Jurassic Pearadise. Yes, please.
🦈 Jaws Turns 50 — And It’s a Party
It’s been five decades since a great white terrorized Amity Island, and Universal Studios Hollywood is celebrating with a bang. The park is bringing back its iconic hanging shark photo op, adding meet and greets with Captain Quint and Chief Brody, and decking out the Studio Tour’s Jaws Lake for a summer-long July 4th party.
Don’t miss the newly themed Amity Island Cafe with mouthwatering eats like Lobster Rolls, Shark Fin Funnel Cake, and the cleverly named Shark Bite cocktail.
⚡️ Back to the Future Celebrates 40 Years
Great Scott! It’s been 40 years since Marty McFly first hit 88 miles per hour, and Universal is marking the milestone with a Time Machine photo op, plus appearances by Doc Brown, Marty, and Einstein the dog.
Over at Mel’s Diner, look for 80’s-inspired menu items like the Flux Capacitor Patty Melt and the Outatime Cookie. There’s even a Time Traveler’s Milkshake — Instagram, get ready.
🧹 A Wickedly Good Time
Fans of Wicked can snap selfies with Elphaba and Glinda at the park’s colorful photo op, proving it’s good to be popular.
🐉 How to Train Your Dragon in Universal Plaza
To celebrate the new live-action How to Train Your Dragon film, the park is unveiling a massive 730-pound Toothless sculpture. Standing nearly six feet tall and 24 feet long, this lovable dragon makes for an epic photo backdrop. Grab a Toothless popcorn bucket and themed cookies while you’re at it.
🚗 Fast & Furious Sneak Peek
Can’t wait for 2026’s Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift coaster? Neither can we! Catch an exclusive look at one of the ride vehicles — a souped-up Dodge Charger, parked and ready for your close-up.
🎶 Mega Fun at Universal CityWalk
The party extends beyond the park! CityWalk is offering:

- Themed merch at Universal Studio Store and Cartooniversal.
- Live DJs and performances at Five Towers Stage.
