(Los Angeles, CA) Have you ever dreamed of solving a mysterious crime? Last month, we got to do just that with Murder & Magic, an immersive experience featuring engaging performer interactions, audience participation, stage magic, and plenty of drama. A three hour production, Murder & Magic guests were invited to examine the crime scene, interview suspects, and even decipher complicated physical evidence.
We ADORED our evening at Murder & Magic! With a stunning blend of visual artistry, nostalgic imagery, peculiar happenings and collective problem solving, this show is packed with entertaining action and delightful intrigue. While Murder & Magic’s initial run has come to an end, we hope it will return to the Southern California stage very soon. In the meantime, let’s take an in-depth look at this unforgettable event:
About Murder & Magic

A limited run spectacular at Hollywood’s iconic Magic Castle, Murder & Magic is one of the most immersive and interactive murder mystery productions I have ever encountered. Taking place in a 1920’s speakeasy, audience members were transported to a time of prohibition, flapper dresses, and limited DNA evidence. Pay attention to the details! Detectives Elkins and Waverly are relying on you to solve this crime!
The Murder & Magic Experience

Murder & Magic is a multi-faceted performance divided into multiple acts or sections. Each of these sections includes a combination of scripted stage performances as well as several interactive elements and tailor-made moments. Here are some of the unique and notable audience participation opportunities you’ll find at Murder & Magic:
Search For Clues
When you first enter the Murder & Magic venue, you’ll need to search for several informative clues. Hidden throughout the performance area, these clues contain valuable information about the characters and their potential motives. Make sure you find the items during this first portion of the evening, because they will disappear as soon as the performance officially begins!
Examine The Crime Scene

What was that sound? Someone found a body! Unlike other mystery shows, Murder & Magic offers the opportunity for audience members to actually enter and examine the crime scene. Guests will be called in small groups to view the evidence and speak with a police investigator. Guests can even ask questions about the visible clues and receive answers in real time.
Review The Evidence

I hope you have a gift for puzzles! During the last act, guests will break into teams to review various sets of forensic evidence. Each group gets a different clue, so make sure to listen as other tables describe their findings.
Make Your Accusation

Once all the scenes have been watched, the suspects interviewed, and the evidence gathered; it’s time to make your final accusations. Murder & Magic staff members will hand out slips of paper for the audience to submit their guesses. And then it’s time to learn the final verdict!

Freaky Thoughts: Murder & Magic

With its charming characters, torrid plot twists, and memorable moments; Murder & Magic was an extraordinary adventure. Filled with a variety of interactive tasks and scripted spectacles, this show offered plenty of opportunities to directly communicate with performers, analyze legitimate clues and evidence, and collaborate with other audience members. I’ve truly never experienced such an immersive and detailed murder mystery production, and I loved every bit of this remarkable evening. If you enjoy live theater or curious stories, I highly recommend taking part in this incredible show!
