(Los Angeles, CA) Picture this: it’s somewhere between 1995-2003. You have just entered Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. Ready for a day of magic and pixie dust, you veer to the right and duck into the very first attraction queue you find.
Wait, what is this place? Entering through a portal marked “ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter,” you notice a plethora of warnings posted throughout the area. Suddenly, you realize this not a run-of-the-mill Disney attraction. No, this is something much more sinister…
While ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter (a theater-in-the-round style meeting with an aggressive, spacefaring life-form), might be closed, its reputation lives on as one of the most frightening and immersive experiences ever to exist in the Orlando area. As one of this attraction’s biggest fans, you can imagine my absolute delight when I learned that Alien Encounter would be resurrected as a live show on the West Coast.
I was THRILLED to attend last week’s showing of Alien Encounter at the Titmouse Warehouse in Los Angeles. This production is everything I’ve been missing for over twenty years, and I cannot WAIT to tell you all about it! So, let’s dive in to all the blood and gore waiting for you at Trepany House’s Alien Encounter!
*There are NO spoilers for Alien Encounter in this article.*

The Alien Encounter Experience

A 20-25 minute immersive horror experience, Alien Encounter is a funny and frightening parody of the iconic Disney attraction. Featuring an impressive combination of playful comedy and disturbing imagery, Alien Encounter effectively recreates much of the same atmosphere and emotions as the original in-park show.
While I will not spoil any of the delightful surprises and scares Alien Encounter offers, it is important for potential theater-goers to know that they WILL GET WET! Audience members are encourage to wear ponchos or other protective gear to shield themselves from water (and other types of fluid) effects. Some of these liquids may stain clothing, so attendees should dress accordingly.
Additionally, Alien Encounter takes all of the fear and terror from the original attraction and amps it up to about 1,000! Be aware that audience members will encounter extreme jump scares, blood/gore, and violent situations.
Freaky Thoughts: Alien Encounter

This show is AMAZING!!! As someone who still grieves the loss of the original ExtraTERRORestrial attraction, Alien Encounter was truly a gift for my horror-loving soul. Every moment contained a new, terrifying surprise, and I would see it again tonight if I could! Whether or not you’ve experienced the Florida show, DO NOT MISS ALIEN ENCOUNTER!
