Inspired by the mythical “red string of fate” that binds us to those destined to be in our circles, this show masterfully depicts intangible themes such as gut instinct, undying chemistry, and enduring friendship.

The Red String Story
The Red String is a new, original musical about the inexplicable phenomenons of love, friendship, and destiny. By examining the journeys of two drastically different couples and their unique paths, The Red String dares to explore the mystery of human relationships and their various complications.
But while the show features deep and meaningful themes, it also includes plenty of lighthearted and comical moments. “THE RED STRING brings to life the fun and adventure of early 2000s rom-coms,” says Amanda Scheirer, co-founder of Without Fear Theatre. Dan Drnach, music writer and another co-founder of the company, added that the production’s soundtrack “captures the whimsy and wickedness of falling in love.” Yes, The Red String strikes an impressive balance between romantic angst, significant concepts, and joyful moments.

Nessa Reilly is a writer…or at least she is trying to be; but she has been having the dreams again. Foreign cities, romantic languages and the person she loves saying those three little words. Sick of slinging drinks, unfulfilled and restless; Nessa decides to follow her dreams…literally. With her best friend Sami in tow, the two women take off on an adventure that will change their lives forever. THE RED STRING is a romantic comedy about Nessa and Sami; two strong, beautifully flawed, LGBTQ women. Their interwoven stories see them explore friendship, love, sex, and whether it is fate or their own actions that lead them to their happy ending.

Pop-Up Book Stores and Art Sales
In honor of the main character’s love of writing, The Red String will host various pop-up book sales by independent authors and retailers. If you are more of a visual art enthusiast, check out the selection of gorgeous pieces adoring the lobby walls. All posted works are for sale and demonstrate the power of relationship and connection.
Orlando Fringe
In accordance with Without Fear’s charitable initiatives, The Red String audiences are invited to support Orlando Fringe – a vital nonprofit supporting Central Florida’s performing arts. “We want to help Fringe continue to foster emerging artists the way they have done for us. In the wake of the flood and arts funding veto, it became clear who we wanted to support with this show. We will be selling special merchandise where the proceeds go directly back to Fringe,” said Scheirer.

Full of relatable relationship struggles and familiar hopeful moments, The Red String is for anyone who has loved and lost. I enjoyed the romantic storylines and lively dialogue. And as an Orlando local, I adored the inside jokes and references to Central Florida’s many quirks and idiosyncrasies.
