Haunted Mazes
This year’s SCarowinds event features a total of five incredibly detailed haunted mazes. Each of these immersive, walkthrough attractions includes a unique original storyline, gory set pieces, special effects, and live actors.
Tooth Fairy
Believe in the tooth fairy? You should, or you might join her collection of human teeth and body parts. Step into the eerie realm of her sinister clinic, where skeptics meet a gruesome fate. Amid blood-stained walls, whirring drills, and piercing screams, victims face gassers, extractors, and grinders. Can you escape her dental horrors or share doubters’ fate? Will you break free from her clutches?

My absolute favorite SCarowinds maze, Tooth Fairy is a highlight of my haunt season. Instead of focusing solely on creepy versions of these classic creatures, SCarowinds leans into the all-too-common discomfort and fears surrounding the mouth. There’s destroyed faces, bloody teeth, dentist chairs, drill sounds, and even an entire hallway made of diseased gums. The result is a wonderfully executed, totally unforgettable, and super creepy experience. I highly recommend checking it out!
Slaughter House: The Final Cut
Journey to the slaughterhouse for carnivorous delights that tantalize taste buds. Don’t mind the bloody walls, skilled butchers, sharp knives, and more. Navigate around carcasses and echoes of the process. Tune out grinding sounds and distant screams and traverse the haunted maze, but mind your manners – else you may become the added ingredient.

Another must-see maze, Slaughterhouse: The Final Cut is a visually stunning journey through an “active” meat processing plant. Filled with incredibly gory scenes, guests will encounter huge, moving set pieces (like conveyor belts, oversized table saws, and more). This maze is delightfully disturbing, utterly immersive, and strikingly powerful. I love it!
Paranormal, Inc.
Unveil the eerie secrets of Hayden Hill, a forsaken hospital marred by a chilling history. Within these ominous walls, deranged doctors and nurses subjected patients to decades of torment.
Ghostly echoes of their agony haunt the corridors, mingling with malevolent apparitions. Sinister medical staff still roam, seeking new victims for their cruel experiments. Venture into this paranormal journey to unravel the enigma of Hayden Hill.

Ahh, the famous Paranormal, Inc. Relocated from its previous home at Knott’s Scary Farm, this haunted maze includes many of the original set pieces, props, and memorable effects from its California run. Due to space constraints in its new location, the current version is slightly smaller than its predecessor. But it still includes the most important elements such as the iconic zip line scare and fan-favorite digital effects.
Depths of Darkness
Venture into the darkness if you dare. In this eerie haunted maze, darkness cloaks all. Seek refuge in the enclosed space, but an unsettling feeling takes hold. Amid pitch-black obscurity, you’re without sight or control. Senses heighten, and thick air envelopes you. Your instincts stir, sensing a presence. Is it friend or foe? Walls seem to constrict, escape elusive. Find your way out if you can.

Depths of Darkness is a uniquely disturbing and disorienting haunted house, full of sometimes seemingly innocuous but actually very gruesome imagery. There’s a disconcerting mixture of real world surroundings and darkly malicious overtones that makes for a horrifyingly memorable experience. Take your time exploring all the hidden stories and themes!
Silver Scream Studios: Condemned
Embark on a chilling expedition with friends to an old building tinged with darkness. Legend holds that Von Hellsburg, a failed horror director, turned his set into an absolute nightmare, claiming lives for authenticity. Decades have passed since those haunting screams echoed through these walls. Now abandoned, the studio stands in decay, but the cries still resonate. Beware, the studio’s structures are unstable, and danger lurks at every step.

Containing a series of several “studios” with diverse set pieces and themes, Silver Scream Studios: Condemned offers guests the opportunity to explore a wide array of abandoned filming locations and haunt styles. A fairly large and fog-filled maze, I appreciated the opportunity to experience such a variety of scenes in one haunt.
Sinister Scare Zones
Between haunted mazes and live shows, enjoy one of four interactive scare zones. If you’re a seasoned haunt fan, you’ll want to know that each scare zone actor seems to be well versed in their character’s unique personality and history. Take your time interacting with the performers and exploring each zone for a deeply personalized experience.
NEW! Lobotomy’s Oddities
Step right up! Bob Lobotomy, SCarowind’s demented ringmaster, has quite the collection of oddities and curiosities gathered from each town his twisted traveling troupe has descended upon. He, along with his band of cringeworthy circus performers and sinister sideshow acts, are on the hunt for more wayward souls to add to this dreaded collection.

Taking over the entire Aeronautica Landing area, Lobotomy’s Oddities is full of fascinating characters and creepy set pieces. I could have easily spent a huge chunk of time talking to the various sideshow performers and learning their stories. Don’t miss this new zone!
Harvest FEAR
Immerse yourself in a unique autumn gathering within the adorned town square. Experience the vibrant celebration of nature’s abundance during the annual Harville Harvest Fair. But as darkness descends, brace yourself for this cheerful event takes a chilling twist as the children of Harville take control of the fairgrounds with their nefarious behavior.

Another huge and immersive zone, Harvest FEAR is an entire carnival with large set pieces (including fair-style booths), gory props, and classic Halloween imagery. The constructed booths are heavily detailed and full of storytelling elements and opportunities. Make sure to engage any actors you see hanging around the booths. They might be able to tell you more about this horrifying fair!
Ripper Alley
Step into the eerie realm of Ripper Alley, where an old English tale claims ghosts manifest in places of great misery or joy. Amidst the forgotten prosperity of this London locale, tortured souls linger as evil spirits. Fear taints the air, and the twisted residents target ordinary humans. Keep your distance and avoid their gaze, for curiosity could lead to a fate as murky as the Thames River.

Transporting guests from the Carolinas to a dark London alley, I ADORE all the creative energy and ingenuity going on in this zone. The Ripper Alley characters not only interact with guests, but also with each other – giving this zone an even more immersive feel.
Live Entertainment
In addition to haunted mazes and outdoor Scare Zones, SCarowinds includes a variety of live entertainment including stage shows, live music, and even a festive parade.
NEW! Wake The Dead: A Murder Mystery Musical
Franklin Earl Anderson Rochester was murdered. His surviving family members arrive for what they believe will be the reading of his will. Unbeknownst to them, the family will stand trial, questioned through popular music and dance. Guests will decide who murdered Rochester, putting the fate of the family in your hands!

This event is AWESOME! I am always so impressed with the level of detail and theming included in SCarowinds’ haunted attractions. The houses were all uniquely terrifying and the zones were filled with engaging performers. If you’ve never experienced SCarowinds before I DEFINITELY recommend checking them out this season.
