(Long Beach, CA) Last month, we were SO THRILLED to attend Midsummer Scream – a weekend-long celebration of haunted attractions, Halloween, and other spooky fandoms. Located in Long Beach, California; Midsummer Scream features a vast variety of terrifying entertainment including Halloween-focused vendors, haunter-led panel discussions, live performers, and even a few themed haunted mazes! The perfect event for any horror enthusiast, we ADORED every terrifying moment!
As an annual, one-weekend-only convention; Midsummer Scream has concluded for the 2024 season. HOWEVER, it will return August 15-17, 2025, for even more creepy fun. While we wait for the all gory details regarding next year’s Midsummer Scream, we are so excited to share all of the amazing and captivating activities we experienced during the 2024 event. Midsummer Scream is a yearly gathering of professional haunters, scaractors, spooky artists, and Halloween fans. It’s a place where devotees of the scary and macabre can come together to celebrate the gory, the strange, and the downright terrifying. Featuring engaging haunter presentations/panel discussions, a variety of immersive experiences, and thrilling entertainment; Midsummer Scream is a can’t miss event for any and all haunted attraction supporters.

My Weekend at Midsummer Scream
With a variety of professional classes, intriguing presentations, interactive performers, and immersive experiences; there is so much to do during a weekend at Midsummer Scream. There’s way too many activities for one person to be able to experience in a single weekend, but I had a great time trying to fit in as many spooky activities as possible! Here’s a few of my favorite parts of my Midsummer Scream experience:
Haunter-Centric Panel Discussions
Perhaps one of the biggest attractors and notable happenings at Midsummer Scream are the many incredible panel discussions led by famous haunted attractions such as Knott’s Scary Farm, 13th Floor Entertainment, and even Halloween Horror Nights. During these panels, attractions gave small previews of their upcoming Halloween season with fun features like announcements, deep dives into existing haunted houses, and even special visits from beloved original characters.
Vendor Floor
Spanning an incredible amount of space, the Midsummer Scream vendor floor was FILLED with literally hundreds of fascinating booths and displays. Exhibitors included businesses and individuals like haunted attractions from all over Southern California, prop and scenery creators, spooky cosplayers, horror authors, makeup artists, and more. We could have spent an entire day simply walking the floor and chatting with all the talented merchants and artists!

Another hugely popularly piece of the Midsummer Scream experience is The Hall of Shadows. Within this darkened hall, guests will find a variety of “teasers” for local haunted attractions and Halloween events. Inside this year’s Hall of Shadows, we experienced mazes from well-known SoCal haunts like Fear Farm, Realm of Shadow, Haunt at Hellizondo, and more! There was even a slider show from the Decayed Brigade, a dancing light display from Magic of the Jack O’ Lanterns, and a special maze from Lionsgate Entertainment called Gears of Fear!

Freaky Thoughts: Midsummer Scream
As a lover of Halloween, haunted houses, and anything spooky; Midsummer Scream was an absolutely extraordinary experience. It was the chance to be surrounded by thousands of like-minded individuals and to honor this holiday and season that we adore so fiercely. This was legitimately one of the best and most unforgettable weekends I’ve ever had, and I already CAN’T WAIT for next year!
