Celebrate Pride Month with the unforgettable modern day/Middle Ages dramedy – Silence! This Susan Smith Blackburn Prize-winning genderqueer comedy follows a gaggle of medieval characters as they challenge old fashioned ideas and cultural norms. Written by Moira Buffini and produced by Lightup Shoebox, Silence promises an evening of quirky entertainment and thought-provoking themes.
About Silence by Moira Buffini

Described by Concord Theatricals as “Shakespeare’s cross dressers meet Monty Python’s blithering knights at the end of the first millennium…” Silence features intense action, lighthearted comedy, and dark plot twists. While the settings and scenes do take place in the Middle Ages, the contemporary characters and themes ensure that the audience will be able to personally relate to the story. And with a combination of Shakespearean drama and modern queer sitcom, Silence has something for every theater fan! As Lightup Shoebox leader Clark Levi told me, “this ain’t your grandma’s period drama!”
Trigger Warning: Silence is rated PG-13+ because it includes some adult content including death, violence, sexual assault, and other heavy topics. Viewer discretion is advised.
