(Orlando, FL) Lightup Shoebox, the innovative theater company that brought you compelling productions such as Carmilla: An American Gothic, Leviticus, and more; will soon present two exceptional shows at the Timucua Arts Foundation in Orlando. The first production (Silence by Moira Buffini) will commemorate the end of Pride Month with another show (The Turn of the Screw adapted by Jeffrey Hatcher) scheduled to kick off the spooky season!
As big fans of this remarkable theater company and its stellar leadership, we are so excited to tell you about these remaining shows in Lightup Shoebox’s very first official season! Let’s take a deeper look at both productions:
Silence by Moira Buffini

To celebrate Pride Month, Lightup Shoebox will present the genderqueer, farcical comedy Silence by Moira Buffini. Described by Concord Theatricals as “Shakespeare’s cross dressers meet Monty Python’s blithering knights at the end of the first millennium,” Silence will run from June 28-30. The Turn of the Screw Adapted by Jeffrey Hatcher

And at the beginning of “spooky season,” Lightup Shoebox will present the horror classic The Turn of the Screw. Dramatists Play Service describes this work as a “provocative tale of suspense, horror and repressed sexuality” and “this adaptation gives the famous story yet another turn of its own”. Running September 13-15, this show can also be found at the Timucua Arts Foundation in Orlando.
