Opening later this year, Penguin Trek is an indoor/outdoor family coaster featuring speedy thrills, fun drops, and even some chilling story elements. Themed after an icy animal research expedition, Penguin Trek promises to be an immersive and exciting addition to SeaWorld’s already pretty amazing coaster line up.

We were so thrilled to be invited on a hard hat tour of this upcoming attraction and get a first look at the in-progress construction of the outdoor track and indoor theming. Thank you, SeaWorld, for inviting us out. Now, let’s take a closer look at the chills and thrills coming to Penguin Trek!

About Penguin Trek at SeaWorld Orlando

Lasting approximately three minutes, Penguin Trek includes crumbling ice, unique coaster features, and breathtaking views of Antarctic penguins!
Penguin Trek Storyline

Penguin Trek is an immersive story coaster that will take guests through icy fields before dropping them straight into the heart of SeaWorld’s penguin habitat.

Riders play the part of animal researchers based at SeaStation Antarctica. Leaving the safety of their warm station, guests will encounter falling ice and treacherous conditions. After launching out of the indoor “show portion” of the attraction, guests will experience some family-friendly drops and turns before returning to SeaWorld’s unique penguin colony!

Penguin Trek Coaster Statistics

While Penguin Trek is considered a “family coaster,” that doesn’t mean it won’t offer plenty of thrilling turns and drops. Penguin Trek boasts over 3,000 feet of track including a launch out of the indoor ride portion, top speeds of 43 mph, and a maximum height of 65 feet!

The coaster also includes some fun elements like plenty of twists and turns and even something called the uphill flip flop! All of the coaster’s features are designed to be enjoyed by children and parents alike (and with a height restriction of 42″, many families will be able to ride this attraction together).
Penguin Trek Coaster “Show Box”

The ride will begin and end in an immersive “Show Box” filled with falling ice, beautiful penguin images, and more. Here’s a short video describing what guests can expect inside:
