Did you know that 57 people died aboard the majestic RMS Queen Mary while she was in service? Now a permanent hotel, event venue, and unique attraction docked along the coast of Long Beach, California, the haunted history of this incredible ship has long intrigued spooky fans and paranormal enthusiasts. From ghost sightings to tragic stories and unexplained occurrences, there are so many creepy legends to explore – and now there’s a brand new way to do it!
Presented by the accomplished Master Magician Aiden Sinclair and hosted by talented apparitionist Michael Rangel, 57 Ghosts is a brand new theatrical séance offering intimate and immersive encounters with some of the most infamous spirits aboard The Queen Mary. A truly unforgettable evening, 57 Ghosts includes striking stories, inexplicable happenings, and lots of audience participation.
We were absolutely THRILLED to be invited to attend a special media showing of 57 Ghosts. As someone who is mesmerized by the supernatural, I adored my experience; and I can’t wait to tell you about it. Thank you, 57 Ghosts and The Queen Mary, for inviting us out!
*Please note: In order to respect the integrity of this presentation, I will not be discussing any “spoilers” or specific details of the séance experience.*
What is 57 Ghosts?
Officially described as a theatrical séance, 57 Ghosts is an enchanting and intense experience. Seated around a large, round, wooden table; participants are led through an approximately 90-minute presentation including a series of iconic ghost stories and peculiar encounters with one of The Queen Mary’s most well-known spirits.
Seating for 57 Ghosts is extremely limited, allowing each individual to receive plenty of personalized attention and the opportunity to participate in tarot readings, spirit demonstrations, and other attempts to contact the paranormal realm. During my visit, every single individual that expressed interest in participating was allowed an active role in the process.
The 57 Ghosts Experience
When we boarded The Queen Mary for our 57 Ghosts experience, we were first directed to the Observation Bar. An art deco lounge with stunning views of the Long Beach shoreline, the Observation Bar serves handcrafted cocktails and light appetizers. If you wish to purchase any refreshments from the Observation Bar, I recommend arriving early for your tour as food will not be allowed in the séance area.
*The exact meeting point for your 57 Ghosts experience may vary. Please make sure to check your confirmation email for instructions.*
After a few minutes at the bar, our group was met by Mr. Aiden Sinclair and escorted through the ship to a set of unassuming stairs. It was on this landing that we received our first ghost story of the evening. Mr. Sinclair told us the tale of two deaths occurring on that very staircase and the first recorded haunted happening aboard The Queen Mary. Mr. Sinclair then led us to the ornate séance room and introduced us to our host, Michael Rangel. After a short introduction, Mr. Rangel instructed us to enter the room and sit down at a large, round table adorned with a “spirit bell” in the center of the circle. The plush and intricately decorated room included timely artifacts, beautiful (and creepy) dolls, as well as one wall covered in framed pictures. Interesting fact: these photos depict all of the people who lost their lives aboard The Queen Mary.
For a visual glance around this gorgeous room, take a look at our previously posted Instagram reel:
Once we were all comfortably seated, Mr. Rangel went over a few ground rules and began the much-anticipated séance. I was not allowed to film or take photos during this portion of the ritual, and, as I previously noted, I won’t be discussing any specifics about the experience. However, I will tell you that the evening was divided into two sections: the light séance and the dark séance.
In the light séance, the group was focused on interpersonal interactions. Mr. Rangel performed a few tarot card readings and told some personal stories. The dark séance, however, was centered on contact with the paranormal realm. With the spotlight on one notorious Queen Mary spirit, this was an incredibly impressive experience. Filled with mystifying scenes and puzzling sights, I really can’t explain some of the things that occurred within the séance room.
@freaks_of_hhn We were THRILLED to attend last night’s “57 Ghosts,” a theatrical séance aboard the Queen Mary in Long Beach, California. Led by apparitionist Michael Rangel, this is an unforgettable experience exploring paranormal happenings, personal grief, and unexplained phenomenon. With only a small, intimate audience for each event, the actual séance is divided into two portions. In the light séance, we got to know each other a little better with tarot cards and readings. But in the dark séance we attempted to contact the realm beyond and converse with some of the lost spirits aboard this magnificent ship! We had an AMAZING time at “57 Ghosts,” and we hope you’ll check them out at 57ghosts.com. Thank you so much, @57ghostsshow, for inviting us out last night.
