About Qualia
In Qualia, audiences will be transported into a post-apocalyptic world where a lone scientist must navigate the remnants of society. Confined to her laboratory, her only companion is Dominic – a sentient computer system.
“If you’re a fan of TV shows like ‘Black Mirror,’ ‘Star Trek,’ or ‘Sweet Tooth,’ this show is for you,” says Renaissance Theatre Company’s Co-Founder Donald Rupe. He goes on: “I saw this play a few years ago, and I was so impressed with how Ashleigh (the show’s playwright) brought this kind of science fiction to the stage; Qualia is thrilling, compelling, and a joy to watch, truly.”
Director Clare Lopez explains, “I’ve always been fascinated by stories that center around a world that has been irrevocably changed by crisis and the challenges of highly advanced technology. Qualia is relatable as we navigate a post pandemic world: one in which we must interrogate both our fears of the outside, our need for connection, and our willingness to choose love even when the obstacles feel insurmountable.”
