This morning, Universal Orlando Resort revealed that Minion Land, a brand new area of the park featuring Despicable Me-themed attractions, dining, and retail; will officially open on August 11, 2023. Located near the entrance of Universal Studios, this energetic new land was created in partnership between the creative teams at Universal Creative and Illumination.
Expanding on the already existing ride, Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, the new land includes family-friendly attractions, dining locations, and shopping facilities. In the brand new Villian-Con Minion Blast, guests can test their evil skills in a first-of-its-kind interactive attraction.
After working up an appetite at Villain-Con, guests can enjoy inventive theme park fare at Illumination’s Minion Cafe or find snack options at Pop-A-Nana (a kiosk selling flavored popcorn), Freeze Ray Pops (a walkup window serving frozen goodies), and Bake My Day (a retail location and bakery selling a variety of treats).

Those looking to purchase souvenirs can stop by the Evil Stuff store. Or if they’re looking for that perfect photo opportunity – the outdoor Illumination Theater features meet and greets with beloved characters like Gru, Margo, Edith, Agnes, and, of course, the Minions from Despicable Me. Guests can also meet Rosita, Gunter, and Johnny from Sing.
