I recently had the opportunity to view Harlow’s Haunt and sit down with director and filmmaker Terry Jarrell. This is such an interesting movie with a layered storyline, complicated characters, and lots of hidden clues for spooky fans to discuss and dissect. I’m so excited to introduce you to Harlow’s Haunt! According to IMDB, Harlow’s Haunt synopsis is:
An ancient evil stalks and claims the souls of anyone who awakens its presence. Children playing with a Ouija board, as adults are confronted with the consequences of dabbling in the occult and must face the true essence of evil at Halloween. Set in the backwoods and swamps of Central Florida, Harlow’s Haunt leads you through a maze of treachery and deceit spanning decades on this emotional and harrowing journey to the end – or is it?
Harlow’s Haunt tells the story of a dark force infesting the swamps of Central Florida and the far-reaching consequences of its deathly grasp. Taking place in two different timelines (the 1920’s and present day), this movie is filled with innovative filming angles, deliberate color schemes, and thoughtful symbolism. Written like a Rubik’s Cube, the two timelines affect and interact with each other in unexpected ways. Including themes of friendship, grief, occult magic, supernatural happenings, and witchcraft; there’s a lot to unpack with each viewing of Harlow’s Haunt.

Harlow’s Haunt: Freaky Thoughts

As a big fan of both horror and Central Florida, it was so much fun to see this film! Watching the action unfold, it is fascinating to observe the timelines connect and the terror develop around each of the main characters. The movie is filled with unexpected twists that keep viewers guessing every step of the way!
So far, I’ve only seen Harlow’s Haunt one time, but I can already tell that is made for multiple viewings. Even in rewatching the extended trailer above, I was able to piece together new clues that bring a greater understanding of the relationships and themes involved in the overall story. Harlow’s Haunt is a deep movie with an involved plotline and lore. I look forward to watching it again!
