Drive The Haunted Road – Now with More Blood and Gore!

The Haunted Road (a drive-thru Halloween attraction) is back – with more blood and gore than ever before! Featuring an all-new driving route, walkthrough experience, and Afterlife Party; The Haunted Road offers a unique, horror-themed adventure for family and friend groups.

Last month, Orlando Decoded was invited to a special media preview of The Haunted Road’s 2022 event. Unfortunately the area suffered heavy rains just before the preview and we were unable to experience the full-drive through show: UNTIL NOW! Earlier this week, we were invited back to The Haunted Road to see the brand new show – complete with updated characters, scenes, and special effects. We LOVED our experience and cannot WAIT to tell you about it! Thank you, Haunted Road, for having us out.

Arrival at The Haunted Road

To avoid overcrowding and traffic delays, Haunted Road tickets are sold online with specified arrival time slots. It’s requested that you not arrive more than 5 minutes before your window begins. When you do pull into the attraction, a staff member will greet you at your car and check your ticket and completed waiver forms. If everything is ready to go, you’ll be directed to join the line of vehicles waiting to begin their experience. We were only in this line for a few minutes before entering the drive with a small group of cars.

How It Works

The Haunted Road’s story is told in several separate scenes scattered along a predetermined driving route. Cars are split into small groups that travel through each scene together. To view each piece of the story, you will pull into a show area, watch the action, and then proceed to the next scene with the same group of cars. It only takes a few moments to drive between the sets, and all vehicles are required to maintain a speed of 5mph or less.

When pulling into a show scene, be sure to turn off your headlights and put your car into “park.” All dialogue and audio is heard through your car’s radio. Each scene uses a different station, so keep a look out for lighted signs like the one below:

The overall experience took just under 35 minutes for us to complete. However, we did encounter a few technical delays. Your actual drive time might vary.

Entering the Human Slaughterhouse

This year’s Haunted Road event features a brand new show with never-before-seen villains and effects. Titled “Human Slaughterhouse,” the experience features beastly hybrid ghosts seeking revenge on unsuspecting mortals. With antagonists including a human/sheep hybrid, man-eating alligator, and ominous, mask-wearing butcher; Human Slaughterhouse is far more intimidating than past iterations of this event!

It was, admittedly, difficult to follow the exact story of the drive. I’m still not entirely sure why these terrifying villains are so angry. However, what the experience lacks in storytelling, it makes up for in visuals. I will not give away any spoilers, but I will say that each scene featured a menacing villain and violent death (with an impressive amount of gore for a live, outdoor show)!

After The Drive

Once you complete your trip down The Haunted Road, you’ll be directed to park your car near The Afterlife Party – an extra experience featuring a walkable haunted house (The Slaughterhouse), food and beverage vendors, and a spooky market. Never previously included in general admission tickets, this party is an awesome addition to the drive-thru attraction.

How to Get Your Tickets to The Haunted Road

The Haunted Road will run on select evenings now through November 6th. Tickets start at $19.99 per person with the exact price varying by your chosen show date. For a smooth entry process, be sure to book your timed admission in advance online, and fill out the required waiver prior to your arrival window! 

Freaky Thoughts: The Haunted Road

Wow! I adored my experience at this year’s Haunted Road! While I generally gravitate towards haunts with a bit more cohesive storytelling, the villains and visuals were enough to satisfy my horror-loving soul. And the added benefit of the walkthrough haunted house and Afterlife Party make a Haunted Road ticket well worth its price. I highly recommend this attraction for Halloween lovers, live theater enthusiasts, and those looking for a unique night out!

Know Before You Go

• You will need to book your timed entry ticket BEFORE arriving at the attraction. You can purchase passes on The Haunted Road’s website.
• Please complete the required waivers prior to your arrival time. You will not be able to enter the attraction without these signed forms.
• To avoid traffic delays, do not arrive to The Haunted Road more than 5 minutes before your specified ticket window.
• For the safety and comfort of guests and performers, remember to put your put your car in “park” and to turn off your headlights after entering a show scene.
• If you plan to enjoy The Afterlife Party, make sure to wear closed-toed, comfortable shoes. You will be walking through unpaved farmland.
