Scream n’ Stream, a Drive-In Horror Movie crossed with a Haunted House, is back with a brand new story and experience. Now located at The Florida Mall, this spooky season’s event includes a variety of indoor activities at The Haunted Lobby as well as the traditional drive-thru trail. With multiple horror-themed zones instead of one steady storyline, this year’s attraction is completely different than previous Scream n’ Stream shows.
We recently had the opportunity to attend Scream n’ Stream’s opening night and experience their 2022 event. Thank you, Scream ‘n Stream for inviting us out!

Arrival at Scream n’ Stream

Scream n’ Stream is now located at The Florida Mall, with ticket redemption and registration situated inside the old M&M store (near Macy’s). When you arrive for your spooky evening, you’ll need to park your car and head inside The Haunted Lobby to check-in.
Check-In
Before enjoying the indoor attractions and activities, you’ll need to check-in at the front desk. Be ready to show your ticket and register for the drive-thru’s virtual queue. While you wait for your turn to enter the main trail, you can enjoy both the included and paid experiences inside The Haunted Lobby.

The Haunted Lobby

Billed as a 90’s scare zone, you’ll wait for your driving adventure inside The Haunted Lobby. Featuring a variety of included and premium activities, there are multiple ways to pass the time. Let’s take a look at some of the experiences waiting for you in this themed, indoor attraction:
Included Experiences
Photo Ops and Theming

Themed as a nostalgic “Bloodbuster,” The Haunted Lobby features a pretty unique photo opportunity! Check out the video wall, complete with detailed movie boxes and blood spatters.

Throughout Bloodbuster, you’ll also find posters and memorabilia showcasing the zones you’re about to encounter inside the Haunted Drive. Pay attention to these teasers as you won’t see the posters anywhere else in the attraction, and they do give some pretty important clues to each zone’s intended theming and imagery. Posters include Unholy Night, Revenge of the Fog Queen, Play Date, Birthday Clown, SLASH!, Station 5, and Mall Bats.

Live Entertainment

The Haunted Lobby also features a variety of live entertainment. You can take pictures and interact with various walkaround performers or dance in the Fog Pit – headed by a party-loving DJ.

Paid Experiences
Murder Masterpieces

For $14.99, you can paint your own “Murder Masterpiece” using dismembered body parts and a makeshift easel (for an extra-disturbing serial killer vibe)!

Fortune Telling by Madame Aziena

I have always wanted to experience a reading by a real fortune teller, so I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to visit Madame Aziena. With over 20 years of practice in the field, Madame Aziena is a knowledgeable and talented modern mystic. By tailoring her techniques to fit Scream n’ Stream’s business model, she can perform either a single reading or an entire carload at one time.
While Madame Aziena was impressively able to decipher things about my life and current situation, she was most adept at giving practical advice. Through her multiple observations as well as our brief conversation, I gleaned several nuggets of wisdom to carry with me to the outside world. If you’d like to learn more about Madame Aziena or schedule your own reading, contact her on Instagram!

The Haunted Drive

It’s your turn to enter The Haunted Drive! After receiving your notification text message, you can use the restroom, finish up any Lobby activities, and get back in your car to head to the drive-thru entrance.

When you arrive at the attraction, an employee will check your ticket and review a few of the driving rules. You’ll also receive a link to the themed radio station. Make sure to pay attention to the posted signage to know which track to stream from your phone or car radio. You’ll need to change the tracks as you go so that each scene is paired with appropriate ambient music.

*Pro-tip: If you miss a posted track number or otherwise lose your place in the audio, don’t panic. The radio station is playing ambient music only. Any dialogue or other important information comes straight from the performers or attraction staff.*

For 2022, Scream n’ Stream will transport guests to the Nightfall Drive-In Theater – a newly renovated venue now showing a plethora of 90’s style horror movies. As you enter the movie screen and travel the predetermined attraction route, you’ll encounter several themed zones – each showcasing a different film and character style.

Unlike previous versions of the event, there are no stop signals or show scenes. Instead, you will continuously travel the road at no more than 3mph – entering various zones representing the different movies. Take your time enjoying each scene as your experience is almost entirely self-paced.

In each themed area, you’ll encounter spooky characters including murderous children, creepy clowns, underemployed vampires, evil Santas and more. These performers are the highlight of the event. Engaging guests in movie-appropriate conversation, each of the actors was skilled in improvisation. We really enjoyed these one-on-one interactions, so be sure to participate in the fun!

The whole experience took us about ten minutes to complete – though your drive time may vary due to traffic flow or adjusted scene pacing. Once you’ve completed your trip through the Nightfall Drive-In, you can simply leave, shop inside the mall, or return to The Haunted Lobby to experience more of the indoor offerings.

Freaky Thoughts: Scream n’ Stream
Forget everything you thought you knew about Scream n’ Stream. This year feels completely different than either their 2020 or 2021 event. Continuously driving through the action drastically changes the experience in a way that will appeal to some and not to others.
As I previously mentioned, the performers were the absolute highlight of the experience for me. Providing constant interaction and themed conversations, they maintained a consistent energy throughout the seven zones.
