Loggerhead Distillery Opens New In-House Bar!

It just got a little easier to sample the award-winning, Florida-inspired craft spirits at Loggerhead Distillery in Historic Downtown Sanford! Due to a recent change in state law, the locally-owned and operated distillery can now serve in-house cocktails, featuring its signature tastes and flavors.

Earlier this week, Orlando Decoded was invited to tour Loggerhead Distillery and its new bar area. We had such a great time learning about this unique, local establishment, and we can’t wait to share about it! Thank you, Loggerhead Distillery, for inviting us out!

About Loggerhead Distillery

Founded in 2019 by a pair of Florida-raised engineers, Loggerhead Distillery creates unique spirits with essences inspired by the Sunshine State. With subtle hints of sugar cane, citrus, and botanical flavors, Loggerhead Distillery’s inventory includes a wide selection of liquors including rum, vodka, moonshine, bourbon, and gin.

Florida Lightning Moonshine

An unaged, 100-proof moonshine, Florida Lightning carries a slight sweetness that reminds some of kettle corn.

Loggerhead Key Lime Gin

A Florida twist on traditional gin, this spirit is flavored with 11 botanicals including key lime, orange, lemon, and grapefruit.

Loggerhead Bourbon

Expertly aged in new, charred oak barrels, Loggerhead Bourbon includes notes of vanilla, toffee, and toasted marshmallow!

Loggerhead Sweet Tea Vodka

Steeped with real tea, lemon, and orange blossom honey, this vodka can be mixed with sugary lemonade for a fun twist on the traditional Arnold Palmer!

Featuring a windowed view of Loggerhead’s premium distillery, the in-house bar is a great place to sample their Florida-inspired liquors or to order a handcrafted cocktail. Each mixed drink is specially designed to showcase the taste and versatility of Loggerhead’s spirits. Don’t see something you like on the menu? “We are extremely proud of our products,” said Chris Schmitt, co-owner of Loggerhead Distillery. “Before, we would provide suggested recipes or pairings after tastings for our guests to make at home, but with our new bar and the recent Florida law, we are able to serve cocktails highlighting our products and how they are meant to be enjoyed – it’s very cool!”

Since opening, Loggerhead Distillery’s spirits have racked up an impressive number of awards and recognitions. Most recently competing in the 2022 San Francisco World Spirits Competition (the largest spirits competition in the world), Loggerhead Distillery took home a gold medal for their Orange Blossom Sweet Tea Vodka, silver for their Key Lime Gin, and a bronze award for their Jamaican Style Blonde Rum. Passion for Turtle Conservation

True Florida natives, co-owners Chris Schmidtt and Cobly Theisen are passionate about the ocean and marine life – especially the many species of sea turtles that inhabit our state’s shores. As part of this fierce love for conservation, Loggerhead Distillery donates one dollar from every bottle purchase to the Ponce Inlet Marine Science Center and Brevard Zoo’s sea turtle rescue and rehabilitation efforts!
