Whether it’s for physical health, sobriety, mental fitness, or some other reason; alcohol-free lifestyles are on the rise. But while the demand for full strength cocktails might have decreased, people still want the social connection, relaxation, and fond memories that come with bar atmospheres and drinking environments. Enter Kava Culture Kava Bar – an innovative concept offering kava and elixir infused beverages in upscale taproom-like environments. Each kava bar includes plenty of conversation corners, remote work spaces, and community-enhancing activities.
Founded with a single Bonita Springs store in 2017, Kava Culture Kava Bar now features multiple locations throughout the South and Central Florida area. Recently, Orlando Decoded was honored to be invited to check out their new location in Lake Mary. Thank you, Manager Kaleb and Kava Culture Kava Bar, for having us out!

What are Kava and Elixir?
Kava Culture Kava Bar offers a wide variety of kava and elixir infused beverages. Ranging from coffee drinks to brews on tap, there is something to satisfy any taste bud or beverage-style preference.
But what exactly are kava and elixir? Let’s take a closer look at these natural ingredients.

Kava: A Root from the South Pacific
A natural muscle relaxer, this pepper-family plant can produce a sense of calm and wellbeing without compromising your mental and physical capabilities. While you can find it in many of Kava Culture’s drinks, the root is traditionally ground into a powder, squeezed, and served in a half coconut shell.

Elixir: A Tea Leaf from Southeast Asia
Playing an important role in Chinese and Eastern medicine, this immune-boosting leaf can be brewed into a variety of teas and drinks. With four primary veins, consuming a particular type of elixir can increase focus, calm anxiety, or even relieve aches and pains.

Elixir Vein Types
Kava Culture Kava Bar offers sparkling elixirs on tap! You can order a single cup or get a flight to try multiple veins and flavors!

The Kava Culture Kava Bar in Lake Mary!

Like other Kava Culture communities, Lake Mary’s Kava Bar offers lots of comfortable seating areas, games, and nightly entertainment. It’s a flexible social setting that can fit almost any situation – from a first date to a professional networking event.
Seating Areas and Free Play Games

Game Table with Chess Set (Right)
One of my favorite aspects of Kava Culture Kava Bar is the sheer variety of seating options. You can curl up on the sectional sofa, stretch out on a hammock chair (my personal choice), or grab a table near the window. In addition to a stocked board and card game area, the bar offers chess, Connect Four, giant Jenga, and other fun diversions!

Nightly Entertainment
If you’re looking for an alcohol-free evening, check out Kava Culture Kava Bar’s extensive entertainment schedule! There’s something going on literally every single night, like board games, cornhole competitions, open mic sessions, bingo, and live music.

The Kava Culture Menu

Just as versatile as its seating options and nightly entertainment schedule, Kava Culture’s menu offers something for everyone. I tried one of their fruity elixirs – on draft. As a former brewery enthusiast (I had to give up my beloved IPA’s due to a longterm medical issue), this was so incredibly satisfying. I adored the flavor and bite of the beverage, and I really did get a bit of a plant buzz – sans booze!

But if sparkling beverages aren’t your thing, Kava Culture has a variety of cocktails on the menu. You can try a hot or iced coffee, handcrafted mixed drinks, herbal tea blends and more! If you’re a purist, try the traditional coconut filled with organic kava or elixir.

*It’s worth noting that while kava and elixir are natural alternatives to alcohol, there are still health concerns associated with the irresponsbile use or abuse of these substances. Do your research before deciding if Kava Culture is for you.*

Freaky Thoughts: Kava Culture
Designed to foster a more connected and health-conscious community, Kava Culture Kava Bar is a unique alternative to alcohol-focused outings. As someone who can no longer drink and definitely misses the social benefits of bars and breweries, I appreciate this drive to create more inclusive experiences and venues. I loved my sparkling elixir, and I’m sure you’ll find something you love too!
