Towering over its neighboring shopping, dining, and entertainment establishments, the Sunset Walk SlingShot is NOW OPEN! With speeds up to 100 mph, this new addition to the Sunset Walk Promenade is an exciting, heart-pumping adventure for both tourist and local thrill seekers!

This morning, we were honored to attend a special ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the grand opening of the Sunset Walk SlingShot. While we were not able to ride the new SlingShot, we did get to learn a bit more about the awesome attraction and hear from some important people responsible for its inception. Thank you, SlingShot Team, for inviting us out!

What is Sunset Walk?
The new SlingShot ride is located on the Sunset Walk Promenade, just outside of Kissimmee’s Margaritaville Resort and Island H20 Water Park. This beautiful complex offers a variety of shopping, dining, and entertainment options as well as special events (like weekly Artisan Markets, seasonal happenings, and car shows).

Sunset Walk: Now Featuring the SlingShot!
As the world’s most popular adrenaline ride, a slingshot attraction is a great addition to Sunset Walk’s entertainment offerings. In case you’re unfamiliar with the concept, a slingshot operates pretty much exactly like you would expect. A pair of riders are strapped into a small double seat suspended between two structures, pulled back and “flung” high into the atmosphere.

Standing at a height of 240 feet, the Sunset Walk SlingShot will launch riders up to 400 feet in the air, reaching 5 G’s in 2 seconds. Even though I have yet to experience the Sunset Walk SlingShot, I recently visited the Orlando SlingShot in Icon Park. While the Orlando version is a good bit taller than the newest installment, I am sure they both offer a similar ride experience. Osceola County Safe Place

The Sunset Walk SlingShot is a designated member of the Osceola County Safe Place program. Organized by the Sheriff’s Office, the Safe Place program calls on local businesses to protect its LGBTQ+ community through employee training and active assistance to victims and/or witnesses to crimes against these individuals. When confronted with such situations, the Sunset Walk SlingShot team has promised to contact appropriate law enforcement officials and to provide a secure waiting location for those involved. You can find out more about Osceola County’s Safe Place program by visiting the Sheriff’s website.
