Love’s Revenge at Sir Henry’s Haunted Trail Runs Feb 11-12!

February 11-12, Love’s Revenge – a special Valentine’s-themed haunted event – returns to Sir Henry’s Haunted Trail (an independent attraction located in Plant City)! With two spooky trails, walk-around characters, a laser tag game, escape room, axe throwing, and more; Sir Henry’s offers a unique and memorable alternative to the tired Valentine’s dinner date routine.

We were thrilled to be invited to this year’s Friends and Family Night – a dress rehearsal for the full Love’s Revenge event. Thank you, Sir Henry’s Haunted Trail, for inviting us out! Now, let’s take a look at at all you can see and do at Love’s Revenge!

Haunted Trails

Every ticket includes admission to the haunted trails as well as access to the live entertainment in the central courtyard. There are two haunted trails at the 2022 event: Blood Wedding and Cry of Death.

Blood Wedding

From the Sir Henry’s Haunted Trail website:

Sarah Devereux and Maxwell Smith’s impending wedding is the “Event of the Season” according to all the papers. Maxwell being the most eligible bachelor in town and Sarah being the daughter of the wealthiest merchant in town, they have been dubbed the perfect couple. On the day of the wedding, Sarah and her bridesmaids arrive at the reception hall, excited and chattering. They walk into a private room and find Maxwell with another woman! Shocked and heartbroken, Sarah wept as she tried to understand the sight before her. Maxwell laughed and taunted her, explaining that the whole wedding was his family’s idea to elevate their status, he never actually wanted to marry her. In the midst of Maxwell’s laughs, something inside of Sarah snapped. She broke the glass of the emergency hatch and grabbed an ax. Before anyone could stop her, she swung the ax at Maxwell and decapitated him in one single stroke then hacked his body and his lover’s body into pieces. Now, she would have her revenge on all those who had wronged her. Sarah and her bridesmaids walked into the reception hall, each adorned with their own weapon. She raised her ax and let out a blood curdling scream, with that chaos erupted in the hall, guests began to run around  frantically to escape the vengeful crew, bodies in pieces, blood everywhere. Will you get caught in the crossfires of Sarah’s Blood Wedding?

I loved both trails, but Blood Wedding was my favorite for three main reasons: the performers’ storytelling styles, costumes, and the use of gory effects.

As a popular, Central Florida haunted attraction, Sir Henry’s Haunted Trail is known for its rich, original stories and characters. But compelling stories still need passionate performers to bring it together, and Blood Wedding does not disappoint! These actors were obviously intimately familiar with both the overall story and their character’s role within the drama. As we walked through each scene, actors would either play out small vignettes intended to move the story forward or directly interact with the audience, making us feel like actual guests in this disastrous wedding! The combination of watching the action unfold and being directly addressed by the characters really worked to immerse me in the story.

But while the performers are obviously a hugely important piece of the overall puzzle, they aren’t the only thing I love about this house. Each character was dressed in gorgeous, fancy clothing (particularly Sarah, of course)- further painting the picture that we were guests at an elegant wedding gone awry.

And finally, Blood Wedding featured the goriest scene in either of the 2022 Valentine’s trails. While I don’t always need a haunted house to include lots of blood and guts, well-placed gore can be a hugely effective storytelling tool. I won’t give away any spoilers or details but know that I adored the way this house used gore to develop the story and immerse guests in the trail’s events. If you’re looking for storytelling, theming, and performer interaction – don’t miss a trip through Blood Wedding!

Cry of Death

From the Sir Henry’s website:

The cry of the sirens are deafening as they lure the ships that sail the mighty seas. Many men have lost their lives to these enchanting beauties. There is a legend that one of these beauties was accidently trapped near the Old lighthouse. Going by the name Abigail, she fell in love with a young Captain named William Jonah and decided to stay on the land. But their love was ill-fated as Captain Jonah and his crew went out one last time for a bountiful catch but a turbulent storm drowned the ship and they never returned. Abigail waited at the lighthouse watching for her lover, after sometime her lifeless body was found floating at the base of the rocks by the lighthouse. Even though her life is gone some say they can still see and hear her as she calls out to her beloved captain. Now, on the anniversary of her death, Abigail calls together her siren sisters and they join her in a call that rings in death. Every year, hundreds of ships and sailors meet their violent end due to the enchanting voices. Tonight, on the eve of her death anniversary, will you be lured in by Abigail and her band of sirens before the captain returns?

The ocean is a pretty terrifying place, and, in my opinion, there aren’t nearly enough haunted events taking advantage of this widely accessible and totally disorienting setting. With this in mind, it’s not hard to imagine why I am so in love with Sir Henry’s nautically themed Valentine’s trail: Cry of Death! Utilizing some truly visually stunning scenery and sets, this trail gives a convincing impression of a haunted seaside town.

But besides the creative sets and not often enough seen subject matter, Cry of Death features impressive make up effects and sound design! Just as beautifully as Blood Wedding’s costumes added to the illusion of an elegant ceremony, the siren’s otherworldly make up helps immerse guests in the inherent threats of living next to the unknowable ocean.

Of course, a house about sirens is going to need some pretty detailed sound design – and Cry of Death delivers. Not only can you hear the siren’s call throughout the trail, a variety of sound effects are used to tell the story while providing organic jump scares for guests. If you are looking for the rush of adrenaline that only a true jump scare can provide, this trail is full of both audio and visual frights!

Walk-Around Entertainment

Also included with every admission ticket is access to Sir Henry’s central courtyard, filled with walk-around performers. Before, after, or in between trails; guests can interact and take photos with Valentine’s characters – including a miserable and ghostly couple, Cupid with his arrows, and more!

In the center of Sir Henry’s courtyard, you’ll find a giant, spooky tree with a unique photo opportunity for couples and friends!

Sir Henry’s Haunted Trail Love’s Revenge Premium Activities

In addition to the included haunted trails and walk-around entertainment, Sir Henry’s Haunted Trail offers three premium activities. For $5 per player per game, guests can add laser tag, an escape room, or even axe throwing to their haunted Valentine’s evening!

Teddy Bear Attack! Laser Tag

Teddy Bear Attack was not operating during Friends and Family Night. However, I have participated in previous versions of Sir Henry’s laser tag, and it is so much fun! During the Haunted Christmas event, for example, players not only had to contend with battling each other – there was also a rogue Gingerbread Man scaring and distracting guests from vanquishing their enemies!

I assume that Teddy Bear Attack will include a similar theme, with giant teddy bears attacking players while they try to win the game. It’s a fun twist on classic laser tag and a spooky addition to your haunted evening!

Darla’s Dollhouse Escape Room

In Love’s Revenge escape room, Darla’s Dollhouse, you’ll have just a few minutes to help one of Sir Henry’s beloved original characters replace her lost teddy bear.

As fairly unskilled escape room artists, we did not solve the puzzles in time – not even close. If you’re a talented or experienced escape room player, you have a good chance of figuring out the solution and successfully completing the game in the required time. If you’re more of a novice, then listen carefully and enjoy the challenge! Whether your group makes it out or not, it’s definitely a unique offering for a haunted event and an enjoyable riddle to attempt to solve with your significant other or friends!

Axe Throwing

Late last year, Sir Henry’s Haunted Trail added an Axe Throwing range to their premium activities – giving guests the opportunity to hurl toy weapons (plastic axes and ninja stars) at small targets. Each purchased game grants you nine attempts to hit your goal! Regardless of skill level, it’s really fun to see how close you can get to the bullseye. Good luck!

Sir Henry’s Swag Shop

While Sir Henry’s Swag Shop was not operating during Friends and Family Night, it definitely deserves a mention! Stop by during your visit to check out Sir Henry’s specialty souvenirs as well as event specific merchandise like Skeleton Heart Signs and Love’s Revenge Candles.

You can also pick up your very own copy of Sir Henry’s Haunted Tales – an anthology novel featuring the origin stories and complicated histories of some of the attraction’s most beloved original characters (including Sir Henry himself). Debuting in 2021, Sir Henry’s Haunted Tales is written by local horror author Amanda Rosenblatt with contributions from her husband Brad Acevedo. Ticket Information for Sir Henry’s Haunted Trail Love’s Revenge

Sir Henry’s Haunted Trail Love’s Revenge will run ONE WEEKEND ONLY: February 11th and 12th from 6:30-11pm. Tickets must be purchased online as there are no sales available onsite. Sir Henry’s uses a timed entry system to manage crowd flow, so be sure to buy your passes ASAP to secure your desired date and time slot!

General Admission Tickets

General admission tickets to the Love’s Revenge event are $20 and include a single entry to each haunted trail plus the common courtyard area.

VIP Tickets

If you’re looking to add some of Sir Henry’s premium activities to your evening, consider a VIP ticket. For $35 per person (only a $15 upcharge), you can enjoy axe throwing, laser tag, as well as unlimited trips through each haunted trail (with front of the line access during your first run)! Considering that each laser tag or axe throwing game is already $5 per person, this is a pretty amazing value!

Sir Henry’s Haunted Trail Love’s Revenge offers a unique Valentine’s date (or friendly outing) option for horror lovers, haunted house fans, and those of us who are just a little bit spookier than most! Having experienced their Halloween event, Haunted Christmas, and Love’s Revenge; I adore Sir Henry’s ability to merge ghostly themes with iconic holidays to create unique atmospheres and stories.

• These trails take place outside on unpaved paths. I highly suggest wearing closed toed, comfortable shoes.
