Night of a Million Lights, the popular holiday celebration supporting local nonprofit Give Kids The World, returns to Kissimmee with brand new attractions, premium experiences, and more of the amazing light displays and Christmas fun we experienced at last year’s inaugural event. Orlando Decoded was honored to attend last night’s preview for Night of a Million Lights, and it was a blast! THANK YOU to Give Kids The World for inviting me! Now, let’s take a look at all that’s waiting beyond the gates!
A Quick Note About Give Kids The World
As mentioned, Night of a Million Lights is a fundraiser for Give Kids The World (also known as the Village or GKTW). Founded in 1986, GKTW works with Make-A-Wish and other wish granting organizations to bring critically ill children and their families to Central Florida for a weeklong, worry-free vacation.
Proceeds from Night of a Million Lights will directly benefit the Village and its important programs (so you can feel extra good about all that holiday fun)! Find out more about Give Kids The World, register to be a volunteer, or give a direct donation by visiting their website!
Night of a Million Lights 2021
A fabulously unique holiday event and almost unheard of opportunity to personally experience the magic and wonder of Give Kids The World Village, Night of a Million Lights takes place amongst a variety of fairytale villas – right on GKTW property! Featuring a 360° dancing light show, Village Tram Tour, sponsored light displays, pictures with Santa, and the South Pole Marketplace; Night of a Million Lights offers a full evening of entertainment for families and friends.
**If you visited last year’s Night of a Million Lights event, you should know that (due to the presence of Wish Families enjoying their vacation) the 2021 version will look and feel completely different than what you remember. But don’t worry! With new attractions, display expansions, and adjusted formatting; this year’s festivities offer an entirely new way to see and experience Give Kids The World.
Dancing Lights Show
The first attraction you’ll encounter upon entering Night of a Million Lights is a huge 360° dancing light show produced by RWS Entertainment Group. Set up around Matthew’s Boundless Playground (a wheelchair accessible play area), guests can enjoy the show from a stationary position or take a stroll through the festive music and decor.
The show plays intermittently throughout the night (with a rotation of different tunes), taking only a few minutes break between each rendition. So, don’t stress about timing – if you miss one show the next will follow shortly after!
In the short video below, you’ll find a small taste of the dancing lights from various viewpoints around the park. Take a look!
Mayor Clayton’s Village Tram Tour
Did you know that Give Kids The World sits on 89 acres of storybook fun? That’s a lot of lights to see and ground to cover!
Enter Mayor Clayton’s Village Tram Tour! On this 10 minute train ride through GKTW, event attendees can get a glimpse of the Village’s whimsical holiday decorations and popular Wish Family attractions like Lori’s Magical Flight, the Enchanted Carousel, and the Castle of Dreams. With customized audio recorded by Jodi Benson (the original voice of Ariel – The Little Mermaid), this is a great way for Village newbies to learn about Give Kids The World’s history, programs, and amenities.
Between the Dancing Lights Show and Mayor Clayton’s Village Tram Tour, you’ll find a selection of sponsored villas with larger than life holiday decor, intricate light displays, and stunning picture opportunities! The Universal Orlando minion decorations were my favorite!
Stellar’s Tree Trail
If you enjoy a good Christmas Tree (and who doesn’t?), take a stroll through Stellar’s Tree Trail. Lined with festively decorated trees (themed, of course, to their individual sponsors) we loved looking at all the detailed and fun ornaments!
South Pole Marketplace
All that holiday fun can work up an appetite! If you’re hungry, thirsty, or just in the mood to shop; visit the South Pole Marketplace! You’ll find Blitzen’s Blizzard Treats featuring ICEE drinks, Donner’s Driveway Tail-Gate serving Boston Market cuisine, and Santa’s Attic with Village and Night of a Million Lights branded merchandise!
Santa’s Florida Home
One of my favorite parts of the Night of a Million Lights event was the opportunity to meet Santa in his summer home!
While waiting for your picture with the Big Guy, enjoy the detailed theming of the Claus’ house! I LOVED checking out all the details GKTW included in this adorable experience!
When it’s your group’s turn, you’ll enter Santa’s picture room for a private chat and photo session. We were able to enjoy a pretty extended interaction without feeling rushed at all! Such a great experience!
If you’d like to add even more magic to your evening at Give Kids The World, consider booking a premium experience – like a behind-the-scenes tour or dessert party.
Discover what it takes to bring Night of a Million Lights to life in this private, guided tour of the event and its backstage areas. Learn about the creative design and construction process – plus view Wish Family exclusive venues like the Avenue of Angels. Tour participants will also receive commemorative Village swag.
Dessert Party tickets include admission to the event as well as one hour of access to an exclusive dessert party at Matthew’s Boundless Playground (in the heart of the dancing light show)! Enjoy a scrumptious dessert buffet and select beverages, plus special gifts for all participants!
