For one more weekend (October 29 and 30), you can experience the Carnival of Frights in Leesburg – a fundraiser for the Melon Patch Theatre.

Designed by local haunt creator group, Stage Fright, this attraction includes talented actors, personalized interactions, a variety of animatronics, and special effects! And for an extra dose of unique flair – the entire maze is constructed on the actual stage of the Melon Patch!

Visiting the Carnival of Frights!
After interviewing Stage Fright leaders, Alex and Jonathan, several weeks ago – I was so excited to visit this original haunt for myself. When I entered the Melon Patch, I paid my entrance fee donation and was directed to the side of the lobby. A “ringleader” then told me about the backstory of the Carnival and what I might encounter once inside the maze. It was an awesome way to set the atmosphere and prepare me for the experience.

The maze itself was really fun! Lasting about 10 minutes, each room included a prolonged, personalized interaction with at least one scaractor and detailed sets with unique touches like a choice of doors, Haunted Mansion-esque crystal balls, or the “Dying Trapeze.” Early in the experience, performers ask for your name and will use it throughout the scenes for extra creep-factor!

As a self-described haunt enthusiast, I was really impressed with the level of creativity, passion, and energetic interactions found at Carnival of Frights. Each scene was unique and filled with a variety of jump scares, creepy conversation, and more. As a pleasant surprise, I noticed that Stage Fright does not currently use overly loud sound effects or triggers to startle guests. As someone who literally carries hearing protection everywhere she goes, I greatly appreciated this!

Bottom Line: This is an awesome experience. If you’re looking for an interactive, unique haunted house or you’re located in the Leesburg area – definitely make a trip to the Carnival of Frights! You’ll get a fun, horror-filled evening while supporting local arts – It’s a win-win!
