With a vibrant and dynamic indie scene, the Central Florida film industry continues to grow. Features like The Beast Comes at Midnight, use local performers, production talent, and Florida’s unique landscapes to create incredible works of visual and storytelling art. One of the most recent projects to enter the indie filming world? A monster-focused short known as Bestial!
About Bestial
Brought to you by talented cinematographer Terry Jarrell and local artist/writer Steve Gray, Bestial will be a short film focused on mysterious killings and terrifying creatures. The teaser video below gives a great first look at the upcoming story:
Working as a team, Terry and Steve bring equally important yet very different skill sets to the proverbial table. Terry, as some readers may remember from a past Local Profile Interview, has extensive cinematography and drone work experience – even founding his own company Black Dog Drone Ops. As a consultant with the Romero Pictures’ Indie Brigade Drove Cav, Terry has made a name for himself as a knowledgeable and skilled field expert.
As a talented writer and artist, Steve Gray’s creative abilities have allowed him to be involved in a diverse set of projects. Most recently you can find him creating beautiful promotions and materials for The Beast Comes At Midnight or writing and recording stories for the popular YouTube channel Chilling Tales for Dark Nights. With his undying passion for compelling narratives and outstanding visuals, Steve created Frog Fat Pictures – a new independent production company bringing the art of filmmaking to Central Florida. As a new member of the Film Florida Entertainment Association, Bestial will be Frog Fat Pictures’ inaugural project.
Bestial Movie Cast
In addition to an amazing behind-the-scenes crew, Bestial features a talented on-screen cast! Bestial’s lead actress, Braille Babcock, is a skilled vocalist and performer currently terrifying audiences at Halloween Horror Nights – right here in Orlando!

Kyle Oifer, another Bestial star, is a gifted musician and published author. You can also find him performing in The Beast Comes at Midnight.

Bestial Filming Technology
As an expert camera operator, Terry is always up to date and aware of the latest developments in filming technology. Bestial will utilize two cutting edge camera systems to create its stunning visuals and storylines.
Wiral
While drone camera work has its place, a Wiral camera system allows filmmakers to capture shots that were once thought impossible. Using suspended cables, Wiral camera mounts can remotely film scenes from inside a car, through the trees, or even while traveling into or out of windows – allowing creators to craft unique perspectives as the story unfolds.
Aspiring and current filmmakers, listen up! As a Wiral ambassador, Terry can get you 10% off your first system! Just use the discount code TERRYJ at check out.
Insta360
While the Bestial team will use a variety of camera tools to tell their immersive story, the Insta360 will help create specialized shots. Honestly, this camera creates some of the most impressive 360° moments I’ve ever seen on film – and I can’t wait to see what the Bestial team creates with it!
