A Petrified Forest, an Altamonte Springs haunt with three original trails, local vendors, and lots of entertainment, opens October 1st! This year, attendees will come face to face with the Wendigo – a territorial and violent creature wreaking havoc on those who trespass on his land. Here’s a short trailer for the 2021 event:
Let’s take a look at all the horrifying fun waiting for you at this year’s A Petrified Forest!
A Petrified Forest Scare Trails
As someone who has visited previous iterations of this event, I can tell you that A Petrified Forest consistently creates quality trails with intricate sets and terrifying stories. In 2021, the event will feature three paths – each exploring a different piece of the Wendigo’s tale.
Come aboard the Moonlight Express on its ill-fated maiden departure. The conductor, Cornelius Fisk, doomed the train by crossing the Wendigo’s land. Now your soul will join the passengers haunting the wreckage forever.
Walk through the mind of the crazed artist Ida Steek. Daughter of taxidermists and skilled with a needle herself, she has a maddening urge to impress the Wendigo with her creations. Watch your step, for her freakish masterpieces are waiting for you.
Enter the end of humanity and try to survive the wasteland of the apocalypse. If not deemed worthy your body will be taken for the cause of feeding the ruler Saul and his court of the Wendigo.
Front Yard Entertainment
While you wait for your scares to begin (or while you decompress afterwards), visit the plethora of entertainment in the Front Yard. You can find a variety of local food and art vendors, a dance area with live DJ, and walkaround monsters searching for their next victims!
Two teams will battle for precious resources against the backdrop of a post-apocalyptic wasteland – but beware! The Wendigo does not tolerate such chaos in his territory!
Have you ever wondered what it’s like behind the scenes? On a backstage tour guests will learn about the art of haunted houses, meet a real performer, and even get a chance to do a little scaring themselves!
Visiting the Wendigo!
A Petrified Forest is open select nights from October 1-30, rain or shine. The entire event is outdoors on uneven ground, so it is recommended that visitors wear closed-toed shoes to travel the trails.
Special Needs Night
On October 13th, guests that have special needs (like mobility issues, sensory sensitivities, epilepsy, etc) have the opportunity to enjoy the haunted trails with appropriate accommodations and at their own pace. Tickets for this event can be found on the website.
There is no onsite parking for A Petrified Forest. Guests must park their vehicles in one of the approved lots shown on the map below. While all of the lots are just a few minutes’ walk from the event, there is a free trolley (Terror Trolley) available from the Adjectives lot.
