If you haven’t noticed, Orlando is kind of a Mecca for food trucks and street foods. We have an ever growing variety of mobile kitchens serving everything from plant-based cuisine, authentic poke, and a huge variety of unique fusion menus. Recently I had the opportunity to try Tao Te Cheese, a gourmet grilled cheese truck serving a plethora of creative sandwiches (with available sides of tomato soup, of course).

Walking up to the truck, you’ll notice the sheer variety of available sandwiches. While there aren’t any vegan options, there are plenty of available sandwiches for meat lovers and others that can easily be modified for vegetarian guests. I chose the Three Caballeros (Buffalo chicken is my meat-focused weakness).

Oh my goodness. This was, hands down, the best grilled cheese sandwich I’ve ever had. Even better than Tom & Chee (which used to have a location near Walt Disney World in Lake Buena Vista). The chicken was shredded into tiny slivers instead of served in chunks – which kept the flavor from overpowering the cheese and sauce while evenly distributing the protein throughout the sandwich. The Buffalo sauce was flavorful with a kick but not so incredibly spicy that a mild-loving fan could not enjoy it. My only complaint is that the bread was incredibly greasy. But to be fair, it’s grilled cheese. That’s part of the deal.
