The world’s tallest dueling racer slide is now open at Aquatica Orlando! We recently got to ride the brand new Riptide Race, and (spoiler alert) this is an AWESOME addition to Aquatica’s waterslides!
Before heading up the 68 foot tower, you’ll need to grab a two-person raft from the unload area. Riptide Race can accommodate single or double riders, but there is a weight limit. Single riders have a maximum weight of 250 pounds, and double riders have a maximum combined weight of 400. Riptide Race does have a height requirement of 42″.

Once you grab your raft, you can start climbing the stairs to the starting line! An employee will need to weigh you and your partner before your ride to make sure you fit within the maximum stipulations. (Trigger Warning: this scale shows your actual weight. If this will be a problem for you, face the slide instead of the railing to avoid looking at the scale.)

You can then put your rafts in the water and get ready to race! The light will turn green when the slide is clear, letting you know that you can push off.

This slide is so much fun! While the majority of it feels like a normal tube slide, there are several points with low walls or clear siding so that you can see your opponent. I wasn’t able to fully enjoy this feature as I was racing a stranger. When racing family and friends, however, I bet this extra visibility provides some extra enjoyment and camaraderie. Freaky Thoughts of Riptide Race
At its essence, Riptide Race is a normal tube slide. If you are racing family or friends, however, this attraction offers an extra bit of fun competition and on-slide interaction. This type of experience is unique amongst other Orlando water attractions, and Riptide Race is a great addition to Aquatica!
