Central Florida’s about to get even more spooky with the arrival of Moonlight Madness! This fall, you can experience two BRAND NEW, horror-filled experiences at their unique event. Let’s take a closer look at this upcoming addition to the Orlando haunt scene!
Moonlight Madness: The Event
The team is still deep in the planning stages, so we will need to wait for many of the logistics and details to be announced. HOWEVER, we do know that there will be two exciting haunted houses featured at the Halloween event! Here’s what we can expect:
Doors of Fear
What’s the most anxiety-producing moment of any haunted house? Going through a door, right? Whether you’re physically opening a barrier or moving SIF (Stuff In your Face – curtains, panels, etc) out of the way, an inability to see the path in front of you increases the intensity and heart-pumping excitement of a horror-filled attraction. But, what if this moment wasn’t just a solitary or fleeting experience inside a house? What if the ENTIRE HOUSE WAS ABOUT OPENING DOORS?
That’s the idea behind Doors of Fear. Guests will be forced to make a series of choices as they move through the path, opening various doors to confront different situations. While we don’t know what these doors may or may not contain, we do know that your experience can and will change depending on which path you choose. Meaning that you could do this house multiple times, experiencing completely different rooms and effects along the way, OR two people in the same party could compare notes after traveling two contrasting paths.
Asylums, serial killers, and hospitals are common settings and themes for haunted houses, but Moonlight Madness wanted to present an unexpected take on these traditional tropes. Instead of simply visiting an asylum or hospital, have you considered entering the mind of someone like Normal Bates, Jigsaw, or Michael Myers? This trippy walk through the brain of a killer is sure to include some fascinating (and disturbing) imagery and themes.
While Moonlight Madness has yet to identify their future home, we know that it will be located somewhere within the Orlando/Orlando-ish area. Exact dates are yet to be determined. According to the event’s website, however, the team plans on hosting multiple event nights throughout September and October.
Moonlight Madness: The Team
Every quality event needs a strong team to make it happen! After meeting each other during the 2020 haunt season, Amanda, Ethan, and Brandon found common passions, drives, and visions. These three talented professionals are ready to bring your nightmares to life. Let’s meet the team!
Amanda McClard: Executive Producer
An Indianapolis native, Amanda is more than ready to lead her team to spooky success! Since moving to Central Florida, she has amassed a wide range of experience in technical, creative, and leadership roles in both large companies and start up organizations. With a clear vision and strategic planning, Ms. McClard keeps her team focused on the goal! In her spare time, Amanda enjoys shopping for a new pair of shoes!
Brandon Saldivar: Creative Director
With a passion for the arts and performance/leadership experience from other haunted events, Brandon’s creative energy is palpable! It is truly fascinating to listen to his visions for the houses and inspirations behind these terrifying concepts! To hear him discuss his background and plans for Moonlight Madness, listen to this week’s episode of the Hung Up On Theme Parks Podcast. Brandon’s favorite Orlando theme park attraction is Mickey’s PhilharMagic at Disney’s Magic Kingdom!
Ethan Lauria: Technical Director
Of course, once the houses are built and sets are dressed, someone needs to bring it all together. An experienced theater technician (and brand new to the Orlando Area), Ethan will soon be hard at work creating and perfecting these exciting experiences. In the meantime, he is working on a degree from Full Sail University in Orlando.
Become Part of the Madness!
It’s still early in the year, and there’s so much more to learn about Moonlight Madness! Make sure you follow them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for the latest updates, giveaways, and other fun content. And keep an eye on their website for upcoming merchandise and announcements.
Finally, in order to successfully create the Doors of Fear house the team needs, well…. doors! If you or someone you know has an extra door or two due to construction or any other reason, email Moonlight Madness at firstname.lastname@example.org.
