We’re back at The Vegan Outlet, a FREE monthly event featuring 30 plant-based vendors, music, and a lively atmosphere! Hosted by The Orlando Bearded Vegan, event attendees will find an incredible assortment of handmade baked goods, locally sourced meals, and environmentally-friendly products: all made with animal-free ingredients.
If you’d like to learn more The Vegan Outlet event, read my coverage of their first market. Instead of general information about the Outlet, this article will focus on a few of the local vendors and small businesses I met during my visit to the January event.
There are too many amazing vendors to highlight in an individual post, so instead we’re creating a series – where you can meet these amazing individuals and businesses for yourselves! (and maybe find a new favorite, animal-free provider!)

Simply Delightful Desserts

Simply Delightful Desserts creates health conscious baked goods that suit a variety of dietary needs. Besides vegan, Simply Delightful Desserts also caters to gluten free, keto, and diabetic diets.
Owner Dana Dejesus was present at the outlet and had created a beautiful display of cookies and personal cakes for purchase.

After reviewing the selection, I chose banana chocolate chip cookie bars. It was $3 for two bars, and as an added convenience, Simply Delightful Desserts accepted my payment via Venmo.

As you can see, this treat is definitely more bar than cookie. That fact aside, the flavor was outstanding! It was sweet and chocolatey. The banana flavor was present but not too overwhelming; and the texture was perfect! It was soft and buttery (is that even possible?) like a freshly made bread. I loved it!
While Simply Delightful Desserts does not have a brick and mortar location, you can order their treats for your family or your next event. Email them for current selections and order information.
Purgatory

After purchasing my dessert, I headed over to the Purgatory booth to check out their lunch offerings. Purgatory serves plant-based “comfort food,” like fried chicken sandwiches, Mac and cheese, and mozzerella sticks.

I tried the Buttermilk Fried Chickun Sammie with homemade aioli and pickles. Personally, I LOVE buffalo sauce, so I was very excited to see they offered this option with the sandwich. I upgraded to add buffalo to the chickun with a little bit of ranch on the side for dipping (mainly because I wasn’t sure how spicy the sauce would be and wanted something to put out the fire if necessary!). All sandwiches are made to order, so I was asked to return after ten minutes.
I went to pick up my sandwich at the appointed time and found this beauty:

It is pretty amazing that this sandwich is vegan. While the texture was slightly off for fried chicken, the taste was on point. And, in case you’re wondering, the buffalo sauce was super flavorful without being too spicy. I would recommend it even to my most spice-intolerant friends. It was a satisfying meal that left me feeling full and fueled until dinner time.
Purgatory does not have a physical location. Instead, you can find them at various festivals and events around town. Be sure to follow them on Instagram to stay informed!
Korgette

My friend didn’t want to eat an entire meal, but she was hungry enough for a snack. To satisfy her craving she decided to try one of the vendor food trucks, Korgette.
Korgette’s signature food item is their falafel. You can order it in a salad, on a pita, with a side of fries, or even wrapped in a tortilla or collard leaf. (They also apparently really like French fries as their korgeritto – buritto – includes them INSIDE the wrap.) Korgette also offers bowls with assorted bases including quinoa, salad, or – of course – French fries.
French fry bowls get a hard pass from me, but this was my friend’s decision. Thankfully, she also decided against the fry bowl and decided to try their falafel. Since she didn’t want too much to eat, she just asked for a small serving -forgoing any specific sandwich or salad fixings.

My friend took a few bites and then offered one to me. Now, I consider myself to be a falafel fan. However, I generally find it to be a little overwhelming when it’s the focus of my plate. The falafel I’ve had in the past can get pretty tough and chewy. Even though I’ve generally enjoyed the flavor, I don’t always order it for that reason.
But OMG!!! This falafel is AMAZING!!! The best falafel I’ve ever tasted — Seriously! It had a defined crust/crunch on the outside without being tough. And the inside was fluffy, soft, and flavorful. I LOVED IT, and I will definitely visit this truck again!
You can order Korgette for pick up on their website. They also use Door Dash and Uber Eats. If you’d like to stay informed on their current menus and events, follow them on Instagram!

On The Grow Plant Shop

Have you ever bought a plant while standing in an airstream? Yeah, me neither! But that’s just what you can do at On The Grow Plant Shop. Valerie, the airstream’s owner, has created a warm, inviting space to purchase plants, learn about gardening, or just sit and chat with your friends. Valerie offers mobile shopping (she’ll come to you) or you can even book a bridal shower or girl party in the airstream itself.
Inside, the airstream is outfitted with a sitting area, multiple displays with plants for sale, and even a cuttings wall.

Cuttings from the wall are free to take. It’s Valerie’s way of “paying it forward” within the community and the environment!
