From February 6 – March 28, Universal Orlando will host their annual Mardi Gras celebration. As you might expect, it will look a little different than years past. BUT there’s still plenty of fun to anticipate.
Mardi Gras Floats
In lieu of the annual Christmas holiday parade, Universal Orlando presented an experience where Macy’s balloons, parade floats, and live performers entertained guests inside a sound stage. Since the experience was available throughout the day, it offered guests an opportunity to enjoy these offerings at their leisure and enhanced social distancing efforts.
While most of us expected the Mardi Gras parade to find a similar fate, that will not be the case. Instead, Pirate Treasure- themed and traditional Universal floats will be scattered throughout the park – providing unique photo opportunities. You’ll also encounter energetic performers and colorful beads as you go through your day at the park, but there won’t be a single location for these offerings.
HOWEVER, you will be able to find a special area with three floats, lighting, and seating at the Music Plaza Stage.
Food Offerings
As in previous years, Universal will feature special menus from a selection of global Carnaval celebrations. Offerings will include:
- Picadillo Empanadas from Puerto Rico
- Pork Schnitzel Sliders from Germany
- Beignets from New Orleans, and
- Beef Short Rib Poutine from Canada
Tasting lanyards will be available for your sampling pleasure.
Additionally, the Mardi Gras Tribute Store is returning! Rooms will include a 1920s jazz parlor, nautical cemetery, and waterfront warehouse! And there will be some sort of Scavenger Hunt. We don’t really know anything about that yet.
