FOR THIS WEEKEND ONLY, enjoy some good old-fashioned holiday terror at Santa’s Slaughterhouse! From December 18-20, you can enjoy this awesome home haunt while supporting a great local cause. As a completely donation-based event for the benefit of Orlando-based charity Baby DJ, this is truly an awesome weekend option for haunt fans or others looking for something just a little different this holiday.
Orlando Decoded was graciously invited to attend a media preview to see a portion of the event and get an idea of what’s in store for you and your friends! Let’s take a look at 6 things you need to know before your visit to the North Pole!
1. There will be a check in process.
Just like anywhere you wish to visit, there will be a short screening process in order to enter Santa’s Slaughterhouse. You will need to undergo a temperature check and sanitize your hands immediately prior to beginning the experience.

2. The outdoor entertainment is fabulous.
From the moment you approach this home haunt, you know you’re in for something special! Outside the entrance, you can find sideshow performers and scaractors interacting with guests and posing for unique photo opportunities. During the media preview, we enjoyed time with Blockhead and Krampus, but even more surprises are in store for the full event this weekend! If you don’t have enough time to enjoy these characters prior to your experience, you can continue to enjoy their performances after you complete the haunt.
Here’s a very short video of Blockhead doing his thing!
3. This feels like a real haunted house!
While you certainly need to be aware that this is a genuine home haunt, don’t let that fool you into thinking this won’t be high quality! The level of care and passion put into every square inch of this experience is apparent, resulting in artful touches in the sets, skilled performances by the actors, and a maze resembling something you would find in a professional haunt setting. This isn’t a run of the mill neighborhood haunted house. This is something with real potential to grow and evolve should the creators decide they wish to continue.

4. You will need to touch a few things.
Unlike many of the haunted attractions I’ve experienced this year, you will need to make contact with a few select items during your experience. There is one door knob that is difficult to open without using your hand. There is a small amount of SIF (Stuff In Your Face) inside the maze. Do remember that everyone is asked to sanitize their hands immediately prior to entering the haunt. Additionally, the Santa’s Slaughterhouse team will be spraying the SIF with hospital-grade disinfectant between parties.

5. Bring your donation with you!
Santa’s Slaughterhouse is a free experience, but they do ask that you bring a monetary or toy donation for Baby DJ – a local charity helping impoverished families provide magical holidays for their children. Please bring cash or use the Cash App or Zelle to make a donation. If you prefer, you can donate an unopened and unwrapped toy instead.
As someone with a background in the nonprofit sector, let me offer one important tidbit. Should you wish to donate a toy – please make sure it is intended for a preteen boy or girl as opposed to a small child. Charities such as Baby DJ are often inundated with toys and games for young kids while the older children are left with very few options. If you need help coming up with an idea for a preteen gift, here are some thoughts:
- Science experiment kit
- Arts and crafts activity
- Remote-controlled cars and vehicles
- Board games
- Make-up packs

6. You’ll need to make a reservation.
Due to capacity and social distancing concerns, you will need to make a reservation in order to attend Santa’s Slaughterhouse. As of this morning, there were still time slots available for all three days this weekend, but that won’t last forever! Reserve your spot today!

Freaky Thoughts
If you enjoy haunted attractions, I highly recommend visiting Santa’s Slaughterhouse this weekend. This is an impressively creative and quality home haunt, built with passion, talent, and dedication. PLUS, you’ll be supporting a great local charity!
With all the creators have managed to achieve in such an unprecedented year, I fully expect this event to keep growing (as long as the staff choose to continue it, of course)! Make your reservation to the North Pole today!
