When I visit a theme park, a sit-down restaurant is not typically on my schedule for the day. However, if I’m visiting Universal’s Islands of Adventure, I try to make time to visit Mythos Restaurant. I’ve eaten there several times over the past few years and have yet to have a bad meal. Join me on a trip to what Theme Park Insider has consistently voted, the “Best Theme Park Restaurant In The World!”

Before You Go
While reservations are offered for Mythos Restaurant, I have been able to walkup each time and wait just 10-15 minutes to be seated. However, if it is a busy time of year or if you’d just like the peace of mind, you can book here. The menu is also posted online so you can decide if this restaurant is right for you. Mythos also accepts the Full Service Universal Dining Plan but you can pay out of pocket as well. Mythos Restaurant is open for lunch and dinner with seatings available from approximately 11am until just before the park closes. For specific operating times, I recommend checking the available reservations or contacting Universal Orlando directly by calling (407) 224-FOOD (3663).
Mythos Restaurant is hard to miss when walking around Islands of Adventure as it is a huge rock formation in the shape of a face with a waterfall pouring out of its mouth. You can spot it across the lagoon after you walk into the park, but it also blends into the skyline as you walk around. Themed after Greek mythology, the outside of the restaurant has several nods to Greek gods Perseus and Bellerophon. Around the back, there is an outdoor walkway with a bridge complete with a troll underneath. If you listen carefully, you may hear him talking to himself.
Inside, the restaurant opens up to a huge cavern with a river running through the middle. The ceilings are incredibly high and the lighting is slightly dimmed to help complete the look. The back wall of the restaurant is almost completely composed of windows with a great view of The Incredible Hulk Coaster.
Overall, the menu at Mythos Restaurant offers Mediterranean cuisine, but there are also Asian-inspired and American dishes. Because this is a sit-down restaurant, the menu features appetizers, entrees, desserts, and a wine list.
- Appetizers range from $10-$14 and include items such as spanakopita and sushi
- Soups and Salads range from $8-$21 and include Tuscan tomato soup and a Chef’s Signature Greek salad
- Entrees range from $18-$28 and include Souvlaki Couscous Bowl, Gnocchi Bolognese, Mediterranean Braised Lamb Shank, and Pad Thai (my personal favorite)
- Sandwiches range from $16-$18 and include a Mythos Signature Lamb Burger, Traditional Cheeseburger, and a Fork, Knife and Spoon Grilled Cheese
- Desserts range from $6-$7 and include Lemon Panna Cotta, Chocolate Hazelnut Creme Brulee, and Chocolate Banana Gooey Cake

- The drink menu includes both alcoholic and non-alcoholic specialty beverages and sodas.
If you have 6 or more people in your party, an 18% gratuity will be automatically added to your bill. Universal Annual Passholders receive a 10% discount on food and non-alcoholic beverages with a Preferred Pass and a 15% discount with a Premier Pass.
In my experience, Mythos Restaurant is amazing for allergy friendly food. Not only can more than half the menu be made gluten free, but there are also a handful of vegetarian or vegan dishes. On my most recent dining experience, I was traveling with a friend who has several allergies that could not easily be accommodated at the quick service restaurants. Every Team Member we talked to about allergy accommodations mentioned Mythos Restaurant as the place to go for safe food. When we arrived at the restaurant, we spoke to a manager before putting our name on the waitlist to ensure that my friend’s allergies could be accommodated. After discussing it with the chef, she assured us we could safely eat there which was such a relief for my friend who hadn’t yet been able to find a full meal in the park.
Once we were seated, our server immediately asked us about the allergy accommodations we needed and had the chef come out to our table. My friend (who has most of the top 8 allergies and a few other less common allergies) was able to have a direct conversation about what she could and could not eat and how the food needed to be prepared in order to preserve her safety. Together, she and the chef created a meal specifically for her from ingredients they had on hand in the kitchen. In the end, she was able to have a steak with two different vegetables prepared especially with her allergies in mind. She said it was delicious, and we really appreciated the chef taking the time to prepare a satisfying and safe meal for her. For any allergies, Universal Orlando recommends contacting their allergy team in advance through their website.
Mythos Restaurant has been one of my favorite theme park dining experiences since I first visited back in 2016. The food is consistently delicious and prepared fresh. I’ve brought several friends here throughout the years and we’ve yet to have a bad meal or a bad experience. The servers are friendly, knowledgeable, and make sure you have a great meal. I highly recommend Mythos Restaurant for those with allergy concerns as well as those who just want to have a slightly elevated theme park dining experience.
