Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has extended the COVID-19 state of emergency order for the next 60 days. This order basically expands the governor’s powers so that he can effectively deal with the coronavirus emergency with as little barriers as possible; such as granting out-of-state medical personnel the ability to practice within Florida and waiving restrictions on government contracts.
While the state is continuing to re-open, coronavirus cases have skyrocketed. According to the Florida Department of Health, here are the most recent numbers:
- 213,794 total cases in the state
- 210,594 of those cases are Florida residents
- 3,841 deaths
- 16,425 hospitalizations
- 14,768 cases in Orange County
As theme parks and attractions continue to re-open, we will bring our coverage with the utmost care. Armed with an awareness of social distancing, face masks, hand sanitizer, and old-fashioned soap, we will take every reasonable precaution to prevent the spread of the disease and heal our community.
