While most of the world agrees that haunted houses and spooky events belong in September/October, true Halloween enthusiasts know that two months just aren’t enough! We need more blood, more guts, more monsters, and above all – more scares! Well, haunt fans, the spirits have heard your pleas. Here are THREE Valentine’s haunts within a relatively easy drive from the Orlando area.
1.) “Love Bites” – Frightmaze Productions
Located in Merritt Island, Frightmaze produces super intense haunts with a mixture of both startle and atmospheric scares. I had the opportunity to enjoy their 2019 Halloween event “House of Voodoo,” and it was one of the best haunts I have ever seen in my life. Each room in the house was like it’s own little interactive story with talented, passionate actors engaging with you and each other. The sets are incredibly detailed, and there are plenty of special effects sprinkled throughout the maze.

2.) “Love’s Revenge” – Sir Henry’s Haunted Trail/Ominous Descent
I-4’s Premier Fear Park will be open this Valentine’s weekend with THREE haunted trails, an escape game, and laser tag – all served with a loving twist, of course! I had my first experience with Ominous Descent this past Halloween season, and I loved every bit of it! These trails are long and intense. Each one took about 10 minutes to complete with a variety of indoor and outdoor scenes. Can’t wait to see what these creators design for the holiday of love!

3.) “Love Bites” – 13th Floor Haunted House
If you’re willing to endure a two-hour drive, you can visit 13th Floor in Jacksonville. This house follows a group of starving vampires trying to lure prey with an event known as a “party for humans.” At this party, you will be the snack! For an additional cost, you can play a mini escape game or try your hand at axe throwing.

As you can probably tell, I am absolutely thrilled to see so many creative Valentine’s haunts popping up in Central Florida – especially when its not even Halloween! I hope this trend continues with St. Patrick’s Day haunts, zombie beach parties, horror-themed 5K’s and so much more.
