Orlando’s first plant-curious restaurant (100% plant-based, 80% of the time) is now open on Orange Avenue! What does plant-curious mean? Well, while most of their menu comes vegan and vegetarian friendly, those wishing for more traditional fare can adds meats or eggs to those dishes. If simply adding a meat to a bowl of quinoa and veggies doesn’t satisfy you, there are some animal-product friendly options like a turkey sandwich, salmon wrap, or even a cheeseburger! Besides the amazing food selection, Hungry Pants offers a selection of hand-crafted sodas – including a lavender and cream soda made with oat milk! Still vegan friendly yet delicious for non-vegan individuals.

After ordering at the counter, you’ll be given a number and asked to find a table in their bright and airy dining room. There’s a good amount of seating, and each table has a condiment tray – complete with Siracha sauce. Servers will bring your food and drink to your table. As a side note, they can also bring you a bottle of tap water for your refilling convenience (if you order bubbly water, they’ll bring a bottle of that too).
I appreciate vegan and vegetarian food, even though I don’t follow either diet. So, I was really excited to try this new addition to the Orlando foodscape. While there were several menu items I wanted to try, I finally settled on the Shitake Soba Noodz. I chose this dish specifically to try the shiitake bacon topping – pieces of shiitake carmelized and cooked to taste like bacon. Wow! I was not disappointed. My friend ordered the Buddha Bowl with chicken and gave high reviews as well.

Shitake Soba Noodz with bok choy, pickled veggies, and shitake bacon. Added avocado.
Buddha Bowl with quinoa, veggies, and seasonal squash. Added chicken.
Truly, this restaurant can satisfy almost any dietary preference or need. If, as a completely random example (cough-cough), you have a vegan father and a meat-loving husband, you can feel confident in suggesting this restaurant for your next shared meal. So be a little plant-curious, don’t be afraid to experiment!
