What is the Crayola Experience?
The Crayola Experience is an awesome attraction with over 30 activities for kids and adults to enjoy. Activities include creating your own coloring page, melting and molding crayons into different shapes, clay modeling, and even a show demonstrating how a crayon is made. All activities promote imagination and creativity, and there is certainly something for everyone!
Toddler-Tested Activities
Doing anything with a toddler is difficult, even at child-friendly attractions like the Crayola Experience. Add a second toddler, and it gets even harder. Every child is different, of course, but both my son and daughter have a hard time with any of the activities that involve waiting for a crayon to melt, taking a picture, or using unfamiliar tools. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of options for us at the Crayola Experience! Here are the best options I’ve found:
1. Cool Moves
Before you even enter the attraction, kids can play with large screens in the lobby. Each screen has a different crayon and kids can move in front of it to control their crayon character!
2. Toddler Town/Color Playground
My toddlers LOVE the Crayola playgrounds (and I love them because I can sit in air conditioning while they play)! Depending on their moods, they’ll either run for the smaller, toddler area or the big kid playground first, switching after they get bored. Even though the Color Playground is intended for bigger kids, my children were able to navigate it at a young age.
3. Scribble Scrubbies
Upon entering the Crayola Experience, everyone in your party will receive a voucher for the Scribble Scrubbie activity. The voucher can be exchanged for a small toy animal that can be colored and decorated before being washed at one of the large sinks. Kids get to take their toy home where they can color, wash, repeat for the rest of time.
4. Modeling Madness
You’ll also receive tokens as you enter the attraction. Tokens can be redeemed at “Wrap it Up!” to make your own crayon or at one of the various vending machines to receive either a marker or modeling clay. If you choose the clay, kids can pick a color and then sit at one of the tables to make their own creation. On the tables, Crayola provides various tools as well as an instruction sheet for a specific project if the kids wish to create something along the theme of the month. My kids loved working with the “play dough” and using the different tools to make “pizzas.”
5. Stomp and Play
Of course, what toddler doesn’t love an interactive floor? The games change every couple minutes, so there’s always something new for your toddler to enjoy.
6. Scribble Square
After running around the playgrounds, my kids will often shift straight to the Scribble Square. In this area, kids can draw on the floor, the wall, or the even the “dog” and “car” props. There are different surfaces, like chalk boards and dry erase areas so kids can use a variety of mediums.
7. Rainbow Rain
Another screen based activity, kids can watch their image dance and play with pouring wax. You can even control the strength of the wax’s “flow” as it falls around you.
