Within the brand new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, you’ll find five places to grab intergalactic food and drink. Most of these are snack/milk stands, but two offer a more immersive experience: Olga’s Cantina and the featured Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo. In Docking Bay 7, you’ll find a restaurant hidden inside a working hangar bay. Chef Strono “Cookie” Tuggs has just received a shipment of fresh intergalactic ingredients and is concocting some delicious dishes for weary travelers. Grab a plate and find a seat amongst the cargo containers and barrels!
The decor and theming in this restaurant is incredibly detailed and immersive. While you’re standing in line, you’ll see some of the ingredients being unpacked or prepared for consumption. The seating areas really look like cargo containers. There are even loose barrels that can be moved from table to table to accommodate parties of different sizes.
The menu is unique (and not just because it’s made with ingredients from outer space). Instead of the usual burger and fries, this menu includes items such as plant-based kefta, shrimp noodle salad, sticky ribs, pot roast, and a chicken salad with quinoa and root vegetables. Dessert items include a chocolate cake with white chocolate mousse and coffee custard or a raspberry creme puff with passion fruit mousse.
It’s Finally Here! Can Rise of the Resistance Rise to the Challenge?
I had the Roasted Endorian Tip-Yip Salad (the chicken salad I mentioned), and it was absolutely delicious. There was a sufficient but not overwhelming amount of green curry ranch dressing on it, and the quinoa and root vegetables made it feel like a hearty and filling dish. I felt fueled and ready to keep having fun instead of heavy and tired like I would be after eating a burger and fries. My husband and I split the Batuu-bon (chocolate cake) for dessert. It’s not very big, but it was the perfect size for us to both satisfy our sweet tooth without overdoing it.
I really enjoyed eating at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo. The meal was worth the price. I just hope they don’t change their menu to more traditional fare as time goes on. I know many people are looking for burgers and fries when they eat a meal at a theme park, but some of us aren’t. There are plenty of opportunities to have that kind of theme park fare around Hollywood Studios. Please, Disney, leave this awesome menu in tact. At least until I can try the plant based kefta! 🙂
