Continuing our coverage of the exciting Florida and Florida-ish updates from the D23 Expo, let’s talk about the new details revealed for the Star Wars immersive hotel experience. While we knew that this hotel was going to be unlike any other hotel on Disney property, the actual magnitude of this vacation experience had not previously been made clear.
Here’s what we know:
- Guest will board and disembark from the ship in a group (like a real cruise) for a two day, two night stay upon the upscale galactic starcruiser.
- When guests arrive at the terminal, they will be invited to board a Launch Pod. The Pod will transport them from Walt Disney World through hyperspace to the Halcyon. As guests are traveling, they will be able to look out the windows to watch the Earth fade into the distance.
- Upon arrival, the airlock will open to reveal the Halcyon’s main atrium.
- While onboard, guests will interact with familiar Star Wars characters as well as some new additions. All members of the crew will be part of the experience.
- Guests will be able to explore the ship during their stay and perhaps find a few hidden or forbidden areas filled with secrets for them to uncover.
- All activities onboard will be part of the adventure, including lightsaber training and the opportunity to tour the ship’s bridge. While at the bridge, passengers can learn about the ship’s systems – including navigation and defense.
- What you learn while on the bridge may come in handy – you never know what enemies you might encounter while in deep space.
- Passengers will be able to schedule a planet-side excursion to the Black Spire Outpost at Batuu.
- All of your choices and interactions will effect the ultimate outcome of your Star Wars story.
- Finally, all of the ship’s windows will have a view of deep space. Of course, since you’re traveling, the sights will be ever changing as your cruise progresses.
- All passenger cabins will have their own window with its own private view into the galaxies.
As a sometimes, pseudo-Trekkie, even I am excited about this incredible, multi-day experience and the possibility it holds for future long-term, immersive stories!
