If you’re not from Orlando (and maybe even if you are) you may not realize that we actually have some pretty amazing and unique food options. For example, Little Vietnam in the Mills50 district has an impressive array of Southeast Asian restaurants and grocery stores. One of my favorites is Paris Banh Mi on Colonial Drive.
Paris Banh Mi is a French-Vietnamese fusion restaurant. Yes, you read that correctly. It’s an interesting blend of bubble tea, pastries, and the smell of savory meat. It’s a casual atmosphere. You walk into the roomy building, grab a tray, fill it with pastries, and then order your drinks and sandwiches at the counter. There are tables along the wall or bar seating on the window if you prefer to people watch.
I ordered the shredded chicken bahn mi. The inside of the sandwich is fairly traditional – just marinated meat and pickled vegetables – however instead of the traditional Vietnamese bread it’s served on a French baguette. It’s a simple change, really, but it was a delicious and filling combination!
I definitely recommend this restaurant as an affordable, causal lunch option. It’s great for a family or a group of friends.
Special Tips:
- There is plenty of free parking around the back of the building. This is not always the case in the Mills 50 District or Downtown Orlando!
- I’ve seen them do several drink and sandwich specials, but you generally need to buy an additional item or items in order to take advantage of it. Make sure to bring a friend!
