My children and I visited the Brevard Zoo on its annual $5 day, so be aware that I experienced abnormal crowds. Even so, we were pretty impressed with this zoo. It’s not huge. It only took about an hour to walk through all of the main animal exhibits (Part of La Selva was closed for renovation), but in addition to the actual zoo there is an aquarium, splash pad, and playground.
If you’re staying close to Cocoa Beach on the East Coast, this is a great option! I wouldn’t drive all the way out here from Orlando, unless you’re here during $5 day and want to stand in line to save some money.
Toddler Tested:
My kids loved this zoo. They were so excited to see all of the animals that they didn’t even ask to get out of the stroller! However, with all those boardwalks, there were lots of ramps and hills. Pushing the stroller got really tiring. Hopefully, you will bring more than one adult so pushing duties can be shared.
Special Tips:
- Make sure you bring cash. the counter service restaurants will charge significantly more money for the exact same bottle you can find in a vending machine four feet away.
- Also, bring swim suits! there is an Indian River themed splash pad area included with general admission.
